TV Series

Just finished Freddie Flintoff's - cricket documentary 4 episodes - Field of Dreams - if anyone needs a knighthood its Freddie showing any governments in the UK how to solve our broken youth society & the way forwards in all the UK - open youth clubs -again , give teenagers something to aim at etc, etc, a great series yet again from him using Cricket , but anysport could do this - a fantastic insight to broken Britain ATM ....

Flintoff has been absolutely brilliant in that series, as has Kyle. Some of the stories are heartbreaking and looks like some of the kids need that inspirational figure like Flintoff to just listen to them, inspire them and give them a chance. Superb TV.

He's fantastic isn't he Joey. Cricket's such an expensive sport to get into when you're young, anything that can break down those barriers and get more people playing a sport that teaches you good values and decency and respect to your team mates and opposition (unless you're Australian) should be encouraged.

Following my enjoyment of Landman, and my immediate liking of Billy Bob Thornton in the lead role, I followed up a pal's recommendation and started watching Goliath, an eight parter on Paramount.
Another masterclass from the fella. Watched them all in three sessions, an excellent effort.
These both sound interesting. I hope one evening to be sober enough to watch them

As a Kid/Teenager, Cricket was one of those sports that had no appeal to me at all, just paid no attention to it.
But then once hit my 20's it just suddenly came out of nowhere and grabbed me, like finding a new band and thinking where have you been all my life..

If it can bring the sport more to your everyday kids rather than your public schools, then it can only be a good thing..

"Shifty" , available on BBC I player, a 5 episode series looking at the change in British politics, how politicians lost control of the country to the money men, it's done in a simplified format, also includes a dog going through a sex change, the role of musical radicals Buck Fizz and their protest against Thatcher, Air guitar night clubs, which will show you the reason everybody hates grebos, it really is a great window to the end of the 80s/90s

My brother was the same, I always played and watched cricket and he didn't bother. Knows more about it than me now

I`m going to start it again at the weekend, it`s just brilliant.

I`m really surprised it hasn`t got more recognition, as the writing and the characters are British comedy at it`s absolute best.
Yeah I've had it waiting in my sky recordings, but everytime I go to watch it a new series comes out.
That josh gilgun is brilliant, loved him in that 'This is England' series.

It's mad because as a kid I wasn't really aware it was a posh sport, we just played it all the time. Both in school and in the summer in the street.

It probably helped my former primary head teacher was John Wylie, as name dropped in Flintoffs book and then we carried on playing in senior school. Though we weren't very good.
