2025/26 David Moyes

I just think we’ve made good signings (Grealish, KDH) but also made some baffling decisions (keeping Keane and Coleman, no links to a RB for two months) so that’s as fair a criticism I can go
Tend to agree with you. I can't knock the club for getting Grealish - but any genuine hopes of a new reboot were hamstrung the moment Keane and Coleman were retained.

Friedkins have disappointed, it has to be said.

What were his other options in midfield and defence? What good players did he leave out ?
- I'm still none the wiser over Aznou's absence tonight - but if he isn't injured then his first mistake was not including him in the squad.

- Garner at LB and Iroegbunam trying to cover his usual role was an automatic non-starter. KDH should've ideally been deployed deeper in the midfield to get onto the ball when we were getting overrun in the first half - he was wasted in the 10 whilst we couldn't even move the ball up to him effectively enough.

- Grealish & Barry should've been introduced sooner and McNeil should've also been on the pitch by the end.

Way too early to write off Moyes, especially the way he transformed the team after he came in last season. Don’t get me wrong, he definitely needs to answer for tonights awful performance, but it is the first game. Let’s give him some time.
I agree. Too early to write him off for us fans but you have to have concern with TFG. It is there club and they won't afford him the time that we would. He has to get it right sooner rather than later.

I know I've waffled a lot tonight, but my main take away is I thought the team we fielded tonight was absolutely rubbish. Nowhere near good enough for this club.

I dont blame the manager for that.
I don't fully blame Moyes, but he need to take his fair share of the blame.
He absolutely had alternatives to the mish mash of a starting 11 he picked. He could have played 3 centre backs, McNeil left wing back, Garner right wing back, Dewsbury-Hall next to Gana, then Grealish, Alcaraz and Ndiaye behind Barry. That would have seen far fewer players out of position and offered defensive solidity but with an actual attacking threat.

Why ease players in? Go all out. Start Barry. Don’t waste him sitting on the bench. Should’ve started him on a promoted side. Start Grealish. He’s so much better than everyone on Leeds. Just go for it. Don’t slowly meter people in. Play like a boss and go for it like every game result wins you the league.
Agreed. And, frankly, why sign 19-year-olds if you're not going to have them in the matchday squad. Other clubs play superb teenagers. We sign them for a future that never arrives.

Fair enough, I’m still willing to hold fire on them just yet given how much damage Moshiri did to the club’s finances

The manager has given those 2 Leeds idiots his list of players and to do the deals.
Where are they? Hammond? One of the best negotiators my arse.
There in lies the problem IMO.

What we know:

1: In Jan he rejected Wesley & Fellows.

= In August he still hasnt signed a RB or RW.

On Moyes.

2: He signed Alcaraz & KDH.

= Uses the 10 at right wing and the 8 at 10.

On Moyes

At this point can anyone forget the daft Conceicao link or the disgusting McGinn link?

Get him well away from recruitment. Hes blown £93mil already and not improved any areas of weakness.

Complete speculation

This, mate. I saw a bunch of matches this weekend with younger players than that starting and making huge impacts for their club. We put ours in protective gear and let out the line over the course of a year. Just be brave and do it. They’re not all going to be Messi and Rooney. But you’ll never know if they’re on their arse match after match.

Oh, they've stabilised us. Kudos to them for that. But I've been alarmed by how unprepared they seem to have been for the crap show that faced them at Everton. They seemed suprised by Dyche being burned out, had no plan for a new manager for a new era, have quite a few key positions still unfilled behind the scenes...haven't even screeded the roof.

Unimpressed, by and large.
