Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

So sources saying Luiz has put a move to Everton on hold as he wants to see what other offers come his way, I say koff him off and find someone deserving of the shirt, obviously not his top choice, can do 1

We are never going to be a top choice for the players we are seemingly targeting. There are probably about eight clubs who are now seen as more attractive than us and a further four to five club who are in our current peer group based on recent PL finishes.

We are like an overweight balding guy, whose best years are behind drunk on the dance floor, still thinking he can pull one of the fittest girls in the club. By all means be ambitious for players, but be practical as well. Timing is essential - don’t leave it until ten to two.

I never said that, that was you that said that! You just made up something hypothetical to justify us doing nothing at all.

Being able to “field a team” is great if you’re banking on no injuries and the players turning into robots and being able to churn out 100 minutes every single week. You can continue to dress it up as much as you want, this squad is not fit for purpose to start the season. It isn’t even fit for pre season, because we’re about to play 3 games against Premier League teams where we’ll likely get humiliated due to having to field loads of youngsters. I’m not sure that will help entice new signings either.
You might be over reacting talking about pre season humiliations - is that even a thing?

Newcastle got humped 4:0 by Celtic and villa lost 3:1 to some German second division side the other day. It’s all part of the prep for the season.

We will have a full enough squad for the start of the season. Confident on that

You are confident we will sign 6 players in the next 4 weeks?

But that overweight balding guy has just got himself a brand new, 16 bedroom house with a swimming pool and a lovely looking crest. Got to count for something.

I also think it's a real possibility we start getting injuries to senior players in pre season because we don't have the squad for these matches.
That's exactly what has been happening last couple of seasons and it cost us poor starts. Then we had the excuse of the psr and lack of funds...now we are trying to get elite players, but theyre not keen in joining us unless there is nobody else...

Don't think we can use that example to beat Everton with.

Special circumstances will apply I would imagine where it does not count in their figures due to insurance exemptions etc, In that resiect, they can go out and buy without the usual considerations.

I think that's fair too to any club faced with such a horrible situation, that they should not be penalised negatively affecting their transfer business in that window.

Of course you have to have the clout to get a player to join you too, a challenge we are naturally facing now.

Our situation is due to our lack of recent sporting success and gross mismanagement of the club, not due to the loss of life.
The point I'm trying to make they need a position replacing they get it done regardless
Of the circumstances
