Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Would really like this to be our next signing. Upgrading our centre midfield is imperative to make a jump up the table. Luiz was a clear part of Villa’s upturn.

Garner is our version of Longstaff and if we persist with him we won’t progress. Newcastle demoted Longstaff for Guimares et al and it transformed them as a team.

Not having a dig at Garner, but he is a squad man at best and the sooner we upgrade the better our chance of progress will be.

Has it been said that it is moyes causing us to be slow in talks for players, like the barry deal was about us not wanting to pay the full amount was not on moyes.
Letting a lot of the high earning under performing deadwood go was not slow.

We've at least kept the price high on Tete with our offer, meaning Fulham had to match it, nothing slow there.

Barry in early is good.

Branthwaite and maybe Pickford new contracts is good business sense.

We've avoided the journey men like Walker and Walker-Peters.

Hopefully we can get the quality/quantity balance right, we seem to be interested in the right players, we need to improve on closing the deal for acquisitions in a more timely manner in comparison to previous season's transfer windows, how we start this season important.

Walking away from over paying is correct.

Kyle Walker is past his best but in no sense was he a ‘journeyman’ footballer!!

I don't think waiting until the end of the window to judge is always fully applicable. It would have been in recent seasons due to our dire straits.

We can't assume that it will all come together, and the longer you leave it, the greater the risk of ending up with nothing for a given position.

I think we're one signing behind so no need for panic. There is a need for a little concern, that's all.

I would look at Friday 8th August as a key date, if we haven't done sufficiently more by then, and that's being generous. Traditionally the final week before kickoff is not busy and there is a natural gravity to push everything out to the final day / week afterwards.

In reality though we need another couple in by a week earlier than that if possible. If not then there will be wider questions asked in the media as to why a much-heralded summer reset appears to be going wrong.

Regardless of this, we'll need to do loan business in the final week and that will have it's own importance.

Whatever way you look at it, the time to be busy is approaching fast.

As an aside I think it’s strange that we misuse the term ‘Journeyman ‘ to describe someone negatively.
In fact a Journeyman is someone who has completed their apprenticeship or training and is fully qualified to work in their trade or craft .
To be described as a journeyman is a complement and not an insult.

I've got to say I have some concerns over the structure of our recruitment team this summer. It's not clear who is in charge and it's not yet clear what is the plan.
Honestly, do you think this is true? It may not be clear to us, but the club will have it sorted.

No multi-million pound company could run well without clear structure, which is why Moshiri failed so badly. TFG are proper businessmen, you can bet your bottom dollar this is clear within the club.
