Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Moyes should be credited with every single transfer Everton make.

Good and bad.

Because none of them happen without his say so.

Nah, too simplistic that mate.

Moyes will have an input and if he's strongly against yeah we won't likely bring a player in, but he's not giving the recruitment team a list of targets that we are only allowed to recruit from.

Overall I'd rather just look at who arrives and judge if the manager and recruitment team are working well together.

And for clarity (and with respect) are you suggesting that’s a bad thing backed up by stating you’d only want 2 of his top 20 (in terms of fees) W.Ham signings?

My point was towards those making posts of the below nature;

If you're doubting Moyes transfer credentials I think you need to take a breather.

Still relaxed tbh. Confident with Moyes at the helm. Always found the 'dithering' tag ridiculous tbh, y'know, seeing as he was absolutely second to nobody when it came to his transfer nous. Of all the things you could level at Moyes, having a go at his record in the market is not one of them.

... to illustrate the point, I've shared his record at his previous, long term job at West Ham and shared the view that from the top 20 there, there's 2 I'd want to replicate now at Everton.

Weird, you agreed with me while saying you disagree.

Well he's certainly complicit in every move - good or bad.

I think some people just want to credit him with the good ones and move the blame for the bad ones elsewhere.

Nah, this is his club now. Like the owners, he will be judged from here on in.

Nah a difference between stopping a deal as you really don't want the player and the acceptance of a deal as 'ok'.

Example I don't think Moyes actually really wanted Alcaraz but he's accepted him as the recruitment team really wanted him.

I'm not saying Moyes spots/scouts every single player.

But he'll review every player put under his nose, and not a single one will sign without him approving it.

Every single signing for the senior team will have his approval, so he should get the praise and criticism.

Unless of course, we want to wait until players are good or bad and then apportion blame.

At every club Moyes has been at, some very good players were signed, some awful ones and some so-so ones.

He's not a transfer god, just better than anyone we've had since he left in terms of track record with this club which is all that matters really.

Rather hope he's not too involved as his jobs to give input but to manage not to choose players

By and large but depends also on owners and how the DoF operates.

For example moshiri one million percent threw players at managers here over the years. Over at west ham the DoF under Moyes and another manager basically no longer communicated and the relationship broke down. In that case I'm betting most of the signings there are gonna be on the DoF - both good and bad
