Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Still relaxed tbh. Confident with Moyes at the helm. Always found the 'dithering' tag ridiculous tbh, y'know, seeing as he was absolutely second to nobody when it came to his transfer nous. Of all the things you could level at Moyes, having a go at his record in the market is not one of them. That's not to say there weren't mistakes but every manager gets some deals wrong.

Not every single player we show an interest in is neccesarily a goer either btw. I would bet good money there's been a lot of approaches that have ended with the player having zero interest in a move to England/Merseyside/Everton (take your pick.)

Then there's agents to deal with, people who won't always give you an honest and/or quick answer. I've listened to Gary Neville talk about what goes on in the window."I don't mind if an agent says to me, 'I've got that club, that club and that club [interested], or it's between your two. Whatever they tell me, I've no problem with, as long as it's straight," Neville says. "I just want straight talk." "It's when I feel like they're using our offer to play it around the market. I can't deal with it."
Absolutely spot on mate

Crap players are very getable, we could agree deals for Lindstrom and Harrison this afternoon and have them holding jerseys in BMD on Monday.

Truth is if you want a McAtee or that profile, you are at this very moment competing with Leverkusen and Dortmund for him, the lads going to sit on a choice for a while - while he considers all the pitch's made to him and then makes a decision.

You can repeat the above cycle, multiple times - if you want quality players. The good ones you have to be patient and compete for - they will have multiple options - the bad ones you can have in for Blackburn this afternoon easy, unless one falls for you like Barry.

If we are waiting a while for signings - be thankful, it means we haven't been turned down too much or worked our way so much down our list - that £20 mill for Lindstrom or Harrison or going back to Doucoure with a better contract offer has become viable.

The longer the wait the more likely - better the player we are competing for.

I'm fully aware of his record at West Ham. Did alright imo. Anyway, why would I ask them blerts their opinion on anything? Y'know, seeing as I watched 11 years of him here, and they're the biggest idiot fanbase in the country. But go on enlighten me...

Something like that, yeah?
That’s just bull, I listed to a podcast with a West Ham journalist, who said they didn’t see eye to eye, the dof wanted mainly younger players, Moyes wanted older players and prem experience was also a big thing to Moyes.
Ward prowe 30mi, vlasic 30, zouma 35, another CB who cost 30 and was like on loan 12 months later. 45 Haller, 35, scammaca. To name a few, he spent about 500mil and wasted 300 of it

West Ham fans are never happy about anything.
They weren't happy with Moyes as manager and wanted him out, even after he won a trophy for them.
You can’t say his transfers were good though, like I’ve just said, 500mil spent about 300mil wasted. Won them a trophy, fantastic but now in bad shape

West Ham in a similar position to what we were a few years, a lot of expensive signings on high wages, With age not on their side and now struggling to shift them

Are we back to the old, the bad signings are the responsibility of the person im not a fan of and the good signings are from someone else.

Its like we didnt have a decade of Moyes here already...i mean of all people, we dont need advice of a another club about its David Moyes mate, FFS.

….yep, 30yo now but still transferred for £10m. Probably too small for physicality of top flight but he scored better than a goal every other game in Scotland and he certainly knew how to finish.

Never suggesting we buy him but a decent player, terrific ethic and turned up in the Old Firm games.

If you can only do it in Scotland, can't do it in France, and end up in the Championship, I'd suggest that's not a decent player.

Nobody is questioning his choices, we’re merely criticising the procrastination. We all know that he needs to bring in at least 6 players to make up a squad and I’m sure many have been identified. Why haven’t they been brought in?
I know now't about transfer dealings, but I'm sure before the end of last season we'd have had a list of 1st team positions we needed to fill, those that would be nice to fill, and useful spots on the bench. We'd also have had a list of suitable players. The 'procrastination' probably lies in working through the list for each position in terms of availability (their club may not want to sell, or only sell once they've brought in a replacement), transfer cost, personal demands of the player, and the player's willingness to join if he's hoping for a better offer. Sure, it'd probably be faster to start from the 4th one down the list for any position, but is that what we want for the club? There's definitely a risk involved in delay, but we just have to hope that those whose job it is at the club to weigh up these things know what they're doing. (Not always the case in the past, I accept). Fingers crossed......

Zouma was a good signing, and they recouped about £45 million on Haller and Scamacca. Vlasic was also sold to Torino for a decent fee. He didn't waste 300 million, don't be ridiculous. He made a few big signings that didn't work, but they werent complete duds like Tosun, Gbamin etc, hence them getting decent chunks of money back on them. Areola, Coufal, Soucek, Bowen, Paqueta, Kudus, Zouma, Emerson were all very good pieces of business. Ward Prowse was probably slightly overpaid for but then he will be playing PL footy under Potter next season, so again, hardly a complete dud.

What do you think happens mate, there is a heap of players waiting by their phones waiting for us to call and say ok we're ready to bring you in now.

Procrastination? Do you think the recruitment team come in and say - we could work on transfers today or we could just head out and get some coffee this morning.

We brought is a new player on Tuesday and one the week before - there is no procrastination, nor reason to be stressed.

Honestly what do you believe happens - genuine question?

A lot of people seem to think you click Buy and then put an offer in, click Continue and get a response by the afternoon. Contracts hashed out later that day and it's done by tomorrow

The truth is we don’t really know what is going on behind the scenes. It could be all on track for our first choice signings, or it could be chaos, disharmony and a list of rejections.

I don’t really understand people who are 100% confident it’s been one or the other.

I also don’t understand this narrative that top targets are more likely to become available later in the window. When has this ever been the case?

The closer we get to the deadline the much greater the chances of Lindstrom or Harrison rocking back up. People just want to talk themselves into believing otherwise.
