2024/25 Jack Harrison

Why on earth would he walk away from 3 yrs at 90k a week and why would Leeds let a premier league player walk for free? Never going to happen.

Just pray Moyes stays well away.
The ball is in Harrison's court for 3 years on that wage.

Leeds are in the same position as we have been so often over the last several years, overpaying for what we don't want. Leeds have to be creative and accept some form of hit to get him off the books to minimise those losses. 90k is 4.5M a year - get 30k a week off the books and subsidise and that's a saving of 1.5M if you don't want anything to do with him and it's better than nowt. I guess it's a stare off until the deadline starts looming and someone offers enough to make it interesting.

I dunno if I would want that to be us taking over Leeds' mistake unless it was super cheap.

In some ways Leeds getting promoted complicates him for them mate. With the clause he had he could go out on loan and someone else had to pay his full wages.

Now the clause is inactive, so someone either has to:

1) Come buy him - and take on his wage.

2) Loan him and take on his wage.

3) Loan him and Leeds Pay a % of his wage.

4) He stays at Leeds and they pay him.

If we want him and he wants to come - he needs to sit on his hands until the deadline and we can broker no 3 as above. We could get him cheaper then the last couple of seasons. As cheap back up that might work for us, in the short term.

The bit I don’t understand is why don’t Leeds want to keep him?

They are desperately throwing bids around trying to get a bit of quality into their squad, yet they don’t want Jack, who is already on their books so they don’t even have to pay a signing on fee and is PL experienced for the last couple of years.

He is literally more of a PL than the majority of their squad.

Has anyone even thought that maybe he has made it clear he doesn't want to go back to Leeds and we're the only destination he wants. Kinda makes Leeds position untenable. Gives us a terrific chance to grab prem experience on a cut price deal. I personally don't want him again as he's just not very good but cut price as squad filler, we could do worse.

Essentially that's the story I get from the Leeds fan at work. He doesn't want to be there so better to get rid.

Mentioned it the other day, he’s got 3 years of his contract left on £90k a week, if Leeds voided his contract wouldn’t he have to agree to giving up what he would be owed in wages for those 3 years?
They can’t really void it due to what he’s owed, as you say.
Cheapest’ way for him to get out might be using the Webster ruling to buy out his remaining contract.
NB - the presumption when this is used is the club he goes to re-imburses him that figure via wages / signing on fee.
