Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Why would signing players now mean they are poorer players? Where’s this theory come from ?
That is not what I said. We will have targets . Id imagine a lot of them . The deals for the ones we want maybe we cannot do right away. If we can get them in a month then id rather we wait.
We have posters giving out because Burnley and Sunderland are signing players they never heard off. Some fans just want us to sign players for the sake of signing players.
I will judge it on September 1st anyway. Others can do differently.

We all want to sign players . Id imagine we are in talks for lots of them . Personally id rather sign better ones in 3/4 weeks time then sign poorer ones now just for the sake of signing them . A lot of transfers depend on what other teams do as well.
What has been the success of signings in the last week of the transfer been like for us....

Mangala loan last year, not really. Broja definitely not.

Beto OK coming good....

Garner, not really.

Gana back, yes.
Maupay haha

Van de Beek loan (January)

Rondon haha

Josh King - who exactly

Maybe the year we brought in Allan, James and Doucoure.

Why? In what scenario would this take place?

Sorry, again, why would we be getting the player at the top of our list on deadline day? No serious clubs acquire their priority targets on deadline day, even we have never done that. Our deadline day signings are bums like Broja and Dele Alli.
Its more to the point if we had top wait for our first choice for whatever reason would you wait or get the 2nd 3rd choice in now?

Moyes rejected Gyokeres at West Ham? Wasn't aware of that.

But I do know Thelwell/Everton definitely tried to sign Gyokeres from Coventry, before he went to Sporting. We managed £17m an barely any of it was upfront. He ended up Sporting for £25m I think it was.

Seems every player we tried to get the last 2/3 years, went elsewhere and has done really well.
I'm only aware of it anecdotally from a fan I know, it was all lined up and he blackballed it as well as not using other players brought in, probably by a DoF. Don't get me wrong, he did very well for us last season without a doubt, but he is what he is, and i'm still fuming about him playing players out of position aots the other night. Proper fuming, hahaha

Spot on. Don’t know why the guy believes signing late is a good sign.

Most likely panic buys.

Think very very poor abit to far would say under average at this moment and that is only because have atleast bought the striker in. But agree 100% need to see movement in key areas esp out wide. I did think becuase barry was a deal they started to try do early we would hear more winger talks coming out

I'll be honest mate - if anyone was expecting 6+ players in before we headed off to the states then you're all living in cloud cuckoo land..

September 1st is always the barometer, regardless of the fact that the season is already well underway by then.

Was I personally hoping for a bit more before now myself? well, yes.. but it's still mid-July either way 🤷‍♂️

Alcaraz dragged on and we paid the clause anyway. Barry is a rotation and Travers is a backup player.

We haven't signed a single player to strengthen the first 11.

I think that is very poor indeed.

Why would we have to wait? It’s important to state the potential reasons that could cause this scenario to occur.

When have we ever signed a priority target late in a window?

Hackney is in in no way guaranteed to ever be Luiz level in PL and in case would take time to develop.
This may be true , but given time and support to develop, he could exceed Luiz ( who is good but not great , to be fair ).
Personally if we had the choice I would prefer we take the chance on Hackney .
In all likelihood we will end up with neither.
