It depends what you think of as ridiculous I suppose. You brought up the example of Wharton, who cost £18m. Is that ridiculous? Would Hackney cost less?

Again, the whole point was whether it would be ‘underwhelming’ not whether he was a decent player in his own right. If the bar we’re setting is ‘sign someone better than Tom Davies’ then I would say 99.99% of fans will see that as being underwhelming. If that isn’t the bar we’re setting then it’s kind of irrelevant.

As I’ve said, I think he’s a decent player who could potentially do well here, but he’s not someone who I’d be excited by. Not in a snobbish, never seen him but assume he’s no good way, but in a seen quite a bit of him and not sure he’s much better than what we’ve got way.

Other teams including the 3 promoted teams are recruiting well on face value.

We can’t tread water for another month otherwise we risk a slow start to the season again.

Well there’s fairly obviously a problem with the way you’re presenting it to be fair, in that I don’t know how I could make it clearer that I don’t disagree with the idea that he’s a decent prospect who could progress. As I’ve said numerous times, I do think he’s a decent player who could do well here (which is also exactly what the post which started this conversation was saying) but I also think he’d be fairly underwhelming as the midfield signing. I just don’t see him as a difference maker in that regard. The 2 positions are not in any way contrary to each other.

I think it’s fair to say I don’t know how I can make something clearer when I’ve literally said it in as many words more than once but you’ve continued to act as if I haven’t, but ok. You’re not the first person to argue with me and then claim it’s just me arguing and you’re being dead normal and calm and that, I’m sure you won’t be the last. I enjoy debating on here, I kind of see that as the point of the forum. Maybe it rubs people like you up the wrong way. Ah well, I’ll just have to do it more.

That’s kind of my point though, I’m absolutely not dismissing your point of view at all, I’m agreeing with it! That’s why it’s frustrating, you’re replying as if I’m saying he’s crap and you’re saying he’s good but that’s not the case at all. I’m saying I think he’s a good player but not that good, hence me saying ‘I don’t know how I can make it clearer’ because you’d just framed it as if my position was the exact opposite of what I’d repeatedly stated it was!

Can't agree more...but when voicing concerns, some on here are quickly to judge and categorise you as a moaner. We had the psr "excuse" in June...we are 17 days into July and only one signing to show for it. Going into the us tour with no further additions to the squad screams amateurs to me. Angus is a great talker...not sure he is a doir. I hope I am wrong and we see a couple of additions in the next week or so.
