Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I think Souček offers what Fellaini did.

Helpful both ends of the pitch, Soucek's 30 noeand has a lot of miles in those legs
Yeah, Fellaini was better though. However, Soucek does have areas where he’s better than Afroman. He’s probably a bit better reading the game defensively, but lacks the elite chest control and sheer power Fellaini had.

Fellaini was an absolute nightmare to play against.

I think we need to remember we are not this top club that players are chomping at the bit to join. Everything is now hopefully in place. Sensible Owners, Trusted Manager and a new Exeutive Board. We have been a massive mess the last few seasons and it will take at least next season to stabalise us and put the dumb and dumber show well and truly in rear mirror. If we can build on what Moyes has achieved in 6 months and progress next year to a top halve club that will be major progress. Players will then look at us seriously. Everything is there now. New Stadium and the finances stabilised.

We have never been fast out to sign players. I dont call Alvarez a signing as he was here and the deal was done last Jan just to activate it. So IMO we have signed 2 players. We now need to bring in a LB to challenge Myko and we also need a RB as i dont think Patterson is good enough and if he turns out to be his injiry record is poor too. CM we need a bit of Quality but i do think RW is now the top priority as we have no one natural for that position. I am genuinely hopful we will get 6 more in. Maybe 2/3 permant and 3 loans. I would say the loans will be last minute.

The English game doesn't belong to England now mate - its just the clubs are based there - its global - the more global you are the better and its where everyone including ourselves wants to head. Thats one of my biggest fears leaving Goodsion, losing that parochial, community, symbiote raw connection and identity - for something more civilised and sanitised for a bigger world.

Back in the early years of the PL and later years of the first division there was always a hierarchy and finance were at play - but it wasn't impossible for someone to come along like Leeds, Forest or Derby and win the league in a couple of years of coming up - or building a team over a couple of years like Howard did on skill to succeed. Seems now like some things are out of reach for 97% of all clubs in England.
Agree 100% mate. Sadly the financial regulations cement it too. UEFA don’t really want us, Forest and the Geordies charging about the CL group stages when they can have Utd, Arsenal and RS etc in there with their global pull.

Solid progress is possible but we aren’t going to be challenging overnight. People talk about Villa but they sold Grealish and spent a good wedge on players who then came good under a top manager. The players were mostly there already, just needed someone decent in the dugout.

Add in better players this summer and hopefully challenge top half then aim to recruit good players again next summer. Only way it’s gonna get done.

Yup.

National captain, more than 80 caps.
Premier League proven, Champions League experience, European trophy winner.
Very strong defensive midfielder with a knack for scoring match-winning goals.

I’m struggling to see negatives.

That’s what Alvarez and Ndiaye are for. Make chances for Soucek and he will score.

You are basically getting a Premier League and European quality defensive midfielder with a Tim Cahill-esque ability for scoring goals.

Loved a bit of Premier League proven did Dychey.

God bless.

*types in similar type of player to Soucek on FM 24*

probably but what's the fun in doing that when we can pay for the prem experience premium

Look I agree and I think we all want that kind of signing but I also understand that if I’m a manager whose just spent a few quid on a young striker new to the league and potentially buying another couple that getting an experienced prem player you personally know for a reasonable price might be very tempting.
