2024/25 Harrison Armstrong

He wasn’t.
In what way? Tim was physically imposing and carried the ball well but misplaced or misskicked so many (what should be) simple passes, I don't think that's good enough for a 22 year old who's apparently our biggest up and coming player (despite being 22 which should be the age he's already established/establishing himself in the 1st team rather than barely playing).

Moyes played Rodwell a lot when he was young, he played Barkley too. If kids are good enough he’ll give them game time, it’s just never as early or as often as his critics want but he’s not often wrong.

I hope he does play him, but more evidence to suggest he just wont.

Rodwell was almost 20 years ago, and he sent Ross out on loan to Sheff Wed & Leeds, Martinez got Ross into the team.

….i remember Moyes saying to Neil Warnock that Barkley couldn’t be trusted to work out of possession, Barkley even struggled for game time on loan which was understandable.

It’s a nonsense to suggest Moyes wouldn’t want to play a very talented young player, indeed it’s a nonsense to suggest any manager wouldn’t want to play any talented young player but their form at top level will be inconsistent and game time will have to be carefully managed. If Moyes decides not to send Armstrong on loan, he’ll use him.

What’s more interesting to me is the position he plays, given he seems quite versatile.

It was, but it also didn't happen.

Starter in all but 2 games.

I would love him to use him often, and let him learn and grow with us.

Just feel Moyes will farm that part of his development out, as the evidence suggests thats what he does, which is fine, most managers do it.

… it’s down to the basic point; ‘do I want access to this player this season’? Moyes will want to use a super talented player if he thinks it’ll improve results.

If Moyes decides to send Armstrong on loan, it’ll be because he doubts he needs him. Key this season could be the lack of numbers at Moyes’ disposal.

He looks to have come a long way and he could help us with depth big time. The question for me will be is he filled out enough to deal with the physicality of the league? Would like to see him more in preseason. What he does potentially give us is versatility and the option to use Garner at RB as well in emergency situatuons. We will see if Davey thinks he is ready.
