2024/25 Jack Harrison

….my logic on this is that we decided not to keep him at the end of his loan spell.
That doesn't mean anything really. Very similar to us not extending Doucoure's contract like we could have done but then offering him one on reduced terms. I've always thought him coming back was a possibility, he is the type of player Moyes appreciates, and if he was popular in the squad etc it can be an easy option. I'd much rather we didn't do it, but it wouldn't be a surprising move in the slightest if it happens.

Of course he enjoyed it here, he’s on 90k and some of our fans praise him for working hard, easiest job In football. I’m hoping Moyes and the rest of the recruitment team, want a bit more from 90k a week wages. I wouldn’t take him on free. We can loan someone late in the widows who would offer more and cost less
Don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t be offering him 90k he would have to be on incentive based wages

This keeps coming up because Chris Bascombe had a throwaway line that bringing Harrison back remained a possibility. It wasn't based on anything, and he's not really a source on transfers. He's also someone who suggested last year that Pickford could be sold to raise funds when we didn't have a serious option to start in his place. I think Bascombe is more of an essayist than a reporter, i.e., he writes about the news and gives his view (which isn't always fully considered on things like transfers, since he's not an expert), but he's not digging up information and reporting on things before anyone else.

Does he improve us in anyway? No

So why would we sign him again?

“We need a squad”

Yes, the players we have now should be a major part of that and the ones we should be looking to bring in should be better what we have. How else do we improve long term by signing no better than what is there!

It was mentioned by Mark Douglas aswell I think, and he's been pretty clued up on Everton stuff the last couple of years. I very much doubt it's a deal we're in any rush to do, more that they're open to the idea of bringing him back if other things don't work out.
