2024/25 Jarrad Branthwaite

Branthwaite's words about Moyes are very encouraging. Maybe Dave is realizing this is his last rodeo and he wants to go out in style. He definitely needed to change his mentality as a manager to reach the next level. His tactics are very good. His selections and ambition were always questionable.

In terms of player management, I consider Moyes one of the best "dads" in the business. He is very good at developing young players and encouraging the ones that need it the most. He just needs to embrace that part about him and avoid the bad habits of management. To hell with league experience and onto the next chapter.

Might sound hyperbolic, but tying him down will probably be the best bit of business we do this summer.

That's what I see, when I see Branthwaite on the pitch.

Having Irvine helps. They complement each other very well. Their attitude to the game is good too. All about improving while still retaining a more old fashioned philosophy were clubs aren’t just seen as stepping stones.

Not very good at getting the best out of the more impetuous lads though is he really?

If you’re not a Boy Scout then he’s not going to have the ingenuity to get something from you

I think as well, the Friedkins I doubt would be happy with Moyes if he was talking down expectations like he was known to do in the past. Since he’s been back, he’s certainly changed his tune about the club and the level we can get to, to that of Moyes mk 1. How much of that is down to different owners or down to his experiences, since his first spell, I don’t know.

Absolutely buzzing with the news today though. As much as this isn’t a new signing, this feels like a statement being made. We’ve got his contract sorted out early doors, the rumours were there for a time before as well. There won’t be a summer of the press trying to sell him. He’s our best centre back and will be an integral part of our team for this season. One big tick on the checklist. Hopefully a sign of things to come in this window.
