Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Why would we try and move Garner on? Perfect midfield depth player. He’s not spectacular but he’s solid and we’ll need players like him.
Just feel that he has a year left on his deal, if they get an offer got a feeling he might go.

I also think we will be in the market for a couple of midfielders.

Not sure Champions League or Europa League is much of a pull these days. You'll get more big matches against top opposition in Premier League than Champions League these days.

What does matter is style of play. McAtee is a good fit for Bundesliga that is end to end and every team wants to press high. That's the football he grew up with. That's the football he know.

He has tried to play for a lesser English team that is defensive minded, and it was a poor fit. He knows how his mate Tommy Doyle got his career ruined by signing for a team such as Wolves.

If he goes to Germany and does well, many of the top English teams will look at him in a year or two. None of them will look at him after playing a year or two for a team managed by Moyes. That's the unfortunate truth.

If Everton were managed by a Carsley or another manager that plays the football McAtee grew up with, knows and loves, he'd be interested. For him to even consider a club such as Everton now he'll need to be poorly advised.

Delap went to Chelsea to sit with the other 56 senior players they have mainly due to champions league and high wages.

As for McAtee played 30 games for a Sheffield United team that got pumped each week on loan.

You've not really watched Everton have you? And as for "defensive" mindset part, thats very disingenuous. Pragmatic maybe but possession stats under Moyes averaged just under 50%...which is up there with your Bournemouth's, Brentford etc. Overall its around 40% due to half a season under Dyche.

We play a mid block and press high. Revert to a back 3 pushing the left back up the pitch. So... trying to figure out the point youre making why McAtee wouldn't be a good fit

Christ. Bit of sweeping statement. I'd suggest Brits are way worse, more ignorant (see above), less refined and bigger helmets by far.

More Helmuts in Germany though 😉

I wouldnt agree with that at all.

Been to Germany a fair few times and find most germans (men mostly tbf) in the nicest way possible to be not very nice to be around.

Its not ignorace its experience. Love the actual country just really dont like dealing with them. Even when they come over here with touring crews its a nightmare.

Refined germans?

Anyway my point was just a little joke about how if i was mactee and i was weighing up my options where my next club would be. Having to move to Germany would be in the con list

No issue with keeping Keane for another year.... He would be 4th CB anyway and expect anyone who comes in would be. Easier to have someone around the club who would accept this.

As long as we are not selling Branthwaite then CB is the least of our priorities this summer!
I agree with all of that. He's also not a bad option to send on as an additional target man if we're chasing the game. I sometimes think he's scored more goals than DCL

Typically we missed the boat on signing him for about £15m. Without being overall spectacular for West Ham, they'll manage to tell him for 4x what they bought him for. He's far out of our price range now.

Think it was actually a loan with £8m option to buy. Till united panicked and put a bid in for £80m for Anthony. Which ment they had to keep kudus as his replacement.

Reason 18,961 why to hate united...
