Be careful what you wish for lads.
Been good since he came back into the team after injury. He is one of those players who you will notice more when he is missing from the team than when he is in it. He is a glue guy. I would like to see him develop into more of a catalyst, but he definitely gets more stick than he deserves. Low on the list of problems. Ideally you want more like him in the rotation and maybe an upgrade as well, but we can make a bigger difference by building a consistent attack and width first. Baby steps.
Same boat as longstaff for me wouldnt massive improve us. Esp brownhill would question him being able but on a free with another i would understand.Brownhill, or is he not an improvement ?

I don't really agree about the 'representing Everton' bit, at the end of the day who he socialises with is nothing to do with the club or us as fans and to be perfectly honest it's highly likely that numerous other players have friends who have acted at least as badly as Greenwood (or even done so themselves) so there's no point getting on high horses about Garner. It doesn't reflect very well on him as a person you'd have to say, but if being a bit of a divvy was enough to stop players representing Everton we wouldn't have been able to put a side out at times.I read this article this morning. I have to say I am disappointed. I don’t care that they used to be in the same youth team. A player that represents Everton football club should not be friends with Mason Greenwood. End of Story.

If your employer tried to take disciplinary action against you because you played football with somebody they think is undesirable then they'd be leaving themselves open for all sorts of lawsuits and you should probably look for a new job if you have any sort of self respect. Like I said, you're extraordinarily naive if you don't think people involved with the club are involved with some shady people. The fact you didn't read an article about it on goal.com doesn't change that fact.I fundamentally disagree with this, because articles like this one associate our football club with Mason Greenwood. it brings the club into disrepute, James Garner has to realise that he is a representative of Everton and choosing to associate with him in a social way affects the club, because our name will be added to the article, it will appear on news aggregation websites, social media and google searches.
I would be very surprised if the football club do not have a policy regarding this, most companies do. If I chose to go and hang out with someone like that and my employers name was used in the article, I would be in HR meeting straight away.
Think it's more that it just doesn't look good on the club. He's still contracted to us in the off-season and therefore still a representative of the club. By all means if he wants to hang out with someone like Greenwood then go for it but be a bit more wiser to how it can look if you do so.If your employer tried to take disciplinary action against you because you played football with somebody they think is undesirable then they'd be leaving themselves open for all sorts of lawsuits and you should probably look for a new job if you have any sort of self respect. No I understand the concept, I'm just saying I don't agree. I don't think anyone is reading that article and thinking Everton are doing anything wrong, and if they are then they're going to think that way about an awful lot of things. As I said, I don't think it reflects well on Garner as a person, but it just isn't anything to do with the club as a whole. Having Duncan Ferguson lead the celebrations at Goodison's last game and then disciplining Garner for being photographed with someone who doesn't even have a criminal record would be a pretty ambitious move.Think it's more that it just doesn't look good on the club.
