2024/25 Jarrad Branthwaite

This is great, but all it really says to me is that he's agreed to stay another year (which is great news in itself). Next summer there will be plenty of speculation again, but we will be in a strong negotiating position at least.

Depends if he see’s the club improve, into Europe. Everton 12 months ago was a basket case compared to today!

In another 12 months we should be stronger

Let's hope so.

My fear is that the club cam to him and said: Sorry, we promised that we would listen to bids for you this summer, but we desperately need you to stay. Can we offer you a new contract with competitive salary and a release clause that will secure a transfer next summer?
Who cares. Everything in football these days is very short term. What him signing a new deal means though, is that with so much to do building a competitive squad, we don’t have the added complication of losing our best player THIS summer. That’s huge for us. We go in to the new stadium once again having one of the best defensive units in the entire league.

With that defensive record in tact, spending the money on attacking players to add more goals to the team will result in our league position being upwardly mobile. In 12 months time if he sees the club being ambitious having just seen the club progress up the table then his stay could well be even longer.

For now, this is huge news for us and a massive boost.

Yeah, it does give us the opportunity to progress and hopefully hold onto him because we are actually a good place to be playing your football. It's not a bad thing in any way, but I still expect there to be loads of transfer speculation again next summer regardless. Particularly if he makes it to the World Cup

In 12 months we'll be a CL team trying to unsettle other teams best players UTFT.

100%, you look around the league, Bournemouth losing their whole defence, Brentford losing key players, Palace potentially losing Guehi and / or Eze, yeah the cash is nice but properly replacing your top players can be impossible. Retaining players is what big clubs do so it's heartening to see us finally act like one again.
Roma were constantly selling their best players, that stopped when the TFG came in , well for the first free seasons anyway

Imagine saying that after watching their absolute embarrassment of a defence over the past few years.

Boss move tying Jarrad down. He wouldn’t take a step down to United anyway, he’s a smart lad.

It’s none of their business.

He’s levels above them.

They can continue to rip up the league with De Ligt (injury prone journeyman), Yoro (why the long face?), Maguire (pure slapstick) and Martinez (actual dwarf). Also let’s not forget their clown of a keeper.

The decade long reign of Branthwaite-O'Brien is something I need more than anything.
