Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Have you seen any specifics on when his gardening leave actually began? I don't see anything, but his gardening leave apparently isn't connected to a move to Everton, but to restructuring, which may be connected to the FFP investigation. The restructuring date could be as late as Hugo Viana's hiring in April, but could go back farther, and so we may be weeks or months into the gardening leave already. Add to that the fact that Ornstein and Boyland note that the clubs have a "healthy relationship" and that talks have been amicable, and I wouldn't be surprised if he started sooner than expected.
No mate. Don't know any of that.

Let's hope he can start soon though - this is a huge summer!

Not when the rest of his game is in contrast to what the manager wants from his players.

If hes going to be a forward player he needs to have pace in order to press high up the pitch, win balls back, spring counter attacks, transition up the pitch with the ball and be involved with final third attacking threat.

McNeil is slow and one footed. So hes predictable and easy to defend against. Hence why his first touch and pass are usually backwards because he knows that if he moves forward with the ball he'll either be forced into a area he'll be ineffective in or more then likely have the ball taken off him.

As i said before set pieces are a good string to your bow but not at the expense of the rest of the style of play.
It's funny because living away all my friends are supporters of other teams and they all rate McNeil much higher than Evertonians do and they watch Everton quite a bit.

Crazy that he scores goals and non-set piece assists when always passes backwards. I suppose the doucs and keane assists where backwards!

The second half of that sentence is extremely questionable unless you only consider love to be unhealthy and disfunctional.
Dysfunctional it may be to us but we all have our own ways of supporting the club and to me I see his love for the club even if I don't agree with much of his rhetoric. The world would be boring if we all thought the same though so fair play to him for voicing his opinions even if he knows many of them won't make him popular on here. I've always admired people with strength of their own conviction

Are these guys legit top draw though or is it wishful thinking with a bit of wait and see? I really hope they do all perform but I have my concerns. I watched us all get excited about Walsh and then Brands when similar ambitious driven proven words were said about them

Well they have a better chance as a narcissistic control freak isn’t chairman and a lunatic who didn’t listen to anyone isn’t an owner

Even with gardening leave, James Smith will probably already have had input here already. He can't rock up at Finch Farm and can't use official channels of communication, but outside of that, how do you enforce it.

It would be a bit pointless this summer if he could only have involvement later. These weeks are the critical time, when the decisions are being finalised now about targets and approaches. Given his background, you would assume him to be very much a Moyes man anyway, and in tune with his thinking.

I like this flatter committee structure in theory and don't think the DoF model works in general, and for us it hasn't been great at all. Having more people with input but within a small group will hopefully avoid the scenario of the DoF making signings on one tangent and the manager on another. It should be more likely that concerns and red flags about a player are also flagged and discussed.

As with everything though, we'll have to see.

This is Everton lad. We’d screw it up somehow.

I’m guessing Coleman’s first job as a coach will be a stakeout at Smith’s house. Smith will be under orders to flash his Bathroom light, once for yes, twice for no, whenever someone he has an opinion about comes on Sky Sports.

The game has moved on since then Eggs, Sheedy wouldn’t survive now

I don’t get the jizz fest over McNeill, has a great left peg and runs round a lot?

He can’t tackle, can’t use his right leg except for standing on and the game passes him by so many times

Good squad player to bring off the bench when you need quality left footed delivery

Plus on low wages, but, we need so much if we are to move forward and better!

Mcneil is so one dimensional. Any half decent defender knows to show him on the inside so he can't ping a cross in.
Under Dyche he stayed way out wide hugging the touchline, and therefore Myko would not overlap. That's why 90% of the time the ball ended up back with Tarky after a promising attacking position.
Moyes wants attacking wide men to come narrower allowing for the overlap, and ndiaye and myko showed real promise there..(just see the goal against newcastle)
So, Dwight coming inside more is an issue because he can only use his left peg and being narrower makes crossing more difficult.

Scores goals????

In 8 seasons in the PL hes gotten over 3 goals a season twice and one of those was 4 goals in a season.

Keane was a set piece and doucore was a pass straight to a forest defender who managed to meg himself. Even the manager mentioned being a poor pass.
