Transfer Rumour Jack Grealish

You like the thought of Grealish being a creative winger who beats players with ease, gets the ball for the striker to tap in and scores Worldies!
Why would anyone want from Grealish to do what he's never done in his entire career? Or McNeil for that matter, as most of his assists that you've posted are from corners/set pieces?

It's not the 80s anymore and it's not just "run forward, punt it to the big man" for gods sake and by your own metric Pienaar was an awful player too who we should've binned. Both him and Grealish look for the ball and move it onwards well which is also what you need, unless you're Sean Dyche and just ignore the midfield to hoof forward.

Grealish isn't a good choice due to the wages, not because he doesn't bring anything to the team.

I like him and think he's not as finished as some people are making out, but I feel like signing him would blow up any wage structure we have so I'm not convinced on that alone. Even if he halved his wages I think he'd still be the top earner.

I think he will end up at somewhere like Newcastle, who can take a bit of a risk on a luxury player like him.

I don't believe we have a single player better than Grealish in our squad, personally.

….its lot to do with being effective, plus I’d be concerned about whether it matters to him now.

Somebody posted about him being a great runner in possession but he tends to stand his full back up, I think it’s an important distinction. He stands his full back up then will go on his mazy runs, if you’re the striker waiting for delivery it’s a bit like waiting for a Peter Beagrie cross. I watched him closely for Villa at Goodison before the big money move and was so disappointed, I don’t believe he’s even a good goalscorer.

Sure he looks the part but I’ve never been convinced and despite the medals, he’s been found out at City.

We have absolutely no right wingers, 1 right back, and 1 centre forward. But what we really are in desperate need of, is a 4th number 10 who likes to cut inside from the left.

You're ok with Ndiaye, McNeil and Alcaraz for those 3 attacking midfield spots + a right winger?

I think we need 5 for those 3 places and have no problem at all with Grealish pushing for a starting place. The others would need to step up.

On loan only of course.

He wont break the wage structure as we wouldnt be paying his wages.

A fee is paid to City. They are the ones who continue paying his wages.

….we have limited spend, we have priority positions to fill, we have limited loan contracts and yet we’re linked with a mega-expensive player who plays in a position where we already have a superior footballer.

All seems a bit odd to me.
At Villa he played more in the middle. His strengths was driving forward, creating chances and running games. City have ruined him by playing on the left and being isolated
I think he would be great for us but I get the financial side of things for us at the moment.

Yeah but the feeling will be higher as a result of paying his wages. As a comparable example, Chelsea paid Man Utd £5m plus the total fee of half Sanchos wages, which was £150k a week. That comes to £6m on the wages alone. It's rumoured Grealish is on about the same wages I believe (£300k).

So if the deal was anything like that, you're talking over £10m just to have Grealish at the club for a year. Is he going to be worth 3 places in the league table on his own, to justify that?

All about risk and reward.

Does Grealish improve the players around him?

Does Grealish positively affect our league position?

Does Grealish improve our media standing and attract more attention for games to be shown on TV?
