Why do Evertonians hate their own players?

I've been a member of this fine website for over 15 years on and off, i have met a few of you but still find a few blues use this site to HATE the lads who try and win game for us. I have never understood this.

Anyone know why? The "Everton Darsss" shout coined by Azul was very accurate. I was in the Park End and heard literal boos for Dom and " He wearrrrs a skirrrrrt"

Every club will have a few idiots. Simple as that really. Most people are sensible and rationale and will support the players unless they behave like Neil Maupay.

….’hate’ is a very strong word. I think it’s normal for football fans to have different views of footballers.

Saying that, if you want a slappy, happy forum where the players are all called by the first names you might want to join RAWK

We’ve been one of the most patient crowds in the entire league starved of success for 30 years watching a succession of players nowhere near good enough barely give any effort for us. Our crowd clapped Stephen Naismith and Richarlison when they scored against us and neither of them were even particularly good for us in the scheme of the club’s overall history.

What fans dont like are players who keep getting chance after chance they probably don’t deserve and still seem to think they’re too good for us. Calvert Lewin has just started to go into this territory but let’s be honest the Goodison crowd backed him for years when he was scoring about 6 goals a season and getting injured every other week.

I think there is a distinct correlation between age and abuse. Us older fans have been blessed with seeing greatness on the park. I saw Young, Morrisey, Labby, saw the holy trinity, the 80’s side etc. so when i look at the lads today they are already gash by comparison. But I am not insane, I accept that we are a long way away from those halcyon times, and I accept and support them regardless of how poor they are by comparison. The thing I will not tolerate is seeing these sub-standard players put in less than 100%. That is the reason I liked Straq, he was ckc, but he’d have thrown himself on a landmine f

Pitty you didn't know his name till after Goodisons last game. Shouting it at him would have made him even more paranoid than he already is
