Prostate Cancer testing

I had my psa test recently. The results are very good and im sticking around.
Mainly because my GP decided it was a good idea to give me a blood test.
A simple blood test. Yes, more intrusive and uncomfortable tests will be done if the blood test shows they are needed. But, it could save your life.
Lads, get tested. Ladies, get your blokes tested.

A couple of years ago I had the usual old 'finger up the hoop' test (my father had an enlarged though benign prostate, so I had regular tests). It all seemed fine, but having read about PSA testing I specifically asked if I could get one to be double sure. He said it wasn't necessary but he agreed. Three months, one MRI and a biopsy later I was diagnosed with Tier 2 prostate cancer, which meant it hadn't spread. It was, however, significant and in both sides, so I had to get treated.

I had six months of hormone therapy and a month's worth of daily radiotherapy sessions at Aintree. A year down the line from that I have now had three follow up PSA tests, all of which have been undetectably low. I have to keep having them. But so far so good. I'm 63 by the way. Probably had it growing since my 50s

I had no symptoms, and I have little doubt that if not for the PSA test I would have had no idea what was in there a year or more on. Asking for the test may have quite literally saved my life.

Get it done...

Nice one brother.

Had mine done late last year.

Bloods and physical examination ( Agggggg) all ok.

On meds to control excessive urination due to slightly enlarged prostrate.

As you say, Get checked out now fella's.

From what I've learned from my doctor, the blood tests are more reliable than the physical palpation exam as the latter requires a pretty trained doctor to know what to feel, and in any case one can only feel one side of the prostate not all of it in the physical exam. Get the blood antigen test...I pay out of pocket to check once or twice a year...money well spent IMO.

A man bought a watch, a chain, and a locket for $216. The watch and locket together cost three times as much as the chain, and the chain and locket together cost half as much as the watch. What was the price of each?
have you checked this?
