Your calculation said £100,000 a week is £400,000 a month. That's incorrect - that would only give 48 weeks when there are 52 weeks in a year.
Good shout. Still, its £'s not $'s....and whatever the figure he's not worth it. Think virtually all of us can agree that.

I doubt anyone thinks he's worth 100k p/w now but with him unlikely to drop to 50k and 2nd/3rd choice it probably means he should leave. The pity is losing him for nothing when we almost got 30mil/Minteh+£ last year for him

Is it worth getting another contract rather than lose him for nowt when he clearly can be a solid squad player for us?
We didn't get £30M or Minteh because DCL was after more wages apparently.

I mean he has been injured a lot, and when fit playing under a team that didn't attack or make chances.

He links the play well. Even if he doesn't rediscover his scoring form, doing what he did yesterday in games to help us get out is still a very useful option from the bench, so I can see why they would want to keep him
He’s scored the same number of goals as Michael Keane I believe, despite playing more games and being an actual striker. I loathe Dyche as much as anyone but Chris Wood routinely hit double figures in a side worse than ours under him, at some point the player has to take responsibility.

And the fact he’s been injured is further evidence that his services are no longer required, not mitigation for his struggles this season. If it was a one off thing you’d say fair enough but this has been a recurring pattern for so long now - he plays like a player who knows his next injury is round the corner, which is a great shame for him but not a problem that Everton should accommodate by way of a new contract.

Had his best game in an Everton shirt in years against spurs under Moyes, then got injured.

A lot seem to forget that under Dyche we rarely played football and DCL would get one or two chances the whole game which added so much pressure on him to score.

He is not on the decline but needs a run of games which I don’t think currently he will get here.

Straight question - would you give him a run of games here and leave Beto out?

We didn't play football and he didn't take shots on goal with the ball so how could we ever have expected him to score goals.

Love this line.

It's not true at all and is a massive exaggeration to excuse Dom's failings but it warms my heart every time someone pretends he couldn't have done any better then what he's managed in the last four years.

It's not his fault he didn't score.

It's the manager, the coaches, the tactics, the other players in the team, the service is wrong, the sun was in his eyes, goals are overrated anyway it's far more important that we get the rest of the team up the pitch so that they can set up a chance for someone other than the striker because it's no longer their job to score the goals.

Close this thread, nothing more needs to be said.

But we’re going to lose him for nowt whether he stays now or signs for another 2-3 years so I just don’t see why we should kick the can down the road. Nobody is ever going to pay to take him off us, the boat to sell him has long left the dock.

And I don’t see how he can clearly be solid squad player for us? Is that how you’d describe his contribution this season, solid?
I would
He was in a thankless role under Dyche and we didn't really see how he would fare under Moyes which I reckon would be a lot better
But you may be right considering future sale
If he accepts a reduced wage I'd keep him though, he definitely has the attributes to impact a game

It's total recency bias but having re watched the highlights this morning I'm erring towards get rid.

I don't care how long he'd been on the pitch or his recent injury that was a shocking miss.

I'm aware it might not be an either/or scenario but I'm heavily leaning towards team Beto. He's not perfect either but the lad really wants it and tries his hardest to improve.

There was a period under dyche where he got one half chance every two games
It was ridiculous
