2024/25 Charly Alcaraz

There is always a player that someone will claim is better than someone and cheaper & better than we have/could buy etc. But find it truly bizarre that some dont like Alcaraz or say he's done nothing etc. If he is used like he should be and he was not half the time. Everyone can see what he brings. He's not even a squad player to me, i would be starting him. He had the 2nd joint most assists for us for one
I would be shocked if we didn't sign him. Exactly the kind of bargain signing we should looking for and this one seems to have fallen into our lap.

Not many better than?

Genuinely astounded by comments like this 😂. He’s alright?

Not sure whether this is a case of evertonians just hugely overrating an actual footballer or if you’re just dying on a Thelwell hill.

Yes, shall i write it again?

Quite a common view on him since he was at Southampton.

Honestly the Christie and Perreria comments are just warped.

I agree with what you are saying but I don’t think our current (or previous) manger trusts him enough defensively.
Some managers play and tolerate players who don’t do much defensively, ours isn’t one of them.

Well, then he should stop playing him on the wing...

It's not the end of the world if Moyes doesn't rate him, but he's 22, already productive, and will only get better.

he isn’t fast either, which is slow when it comes to counter attacking move.

He's like a bull. When running with the ball its very hard to get the ball off him and hes no slouch.

Common amongst who?!

Southampton fans, Flamengo fans and I dare say Evertonians when hes central.

Yeah, thats why he left Southampton and joined a backwater league like Brazil.

He left Southampton because the manager wanted to play tippy tappy and he's a direct player who'se best in transition -- hence my point.

Via Juventus in fairness.

‘Not many better’ than him is a wild, wild shout though 😂. I can think of about 20 just in the premier league.

Juve got him with a £42mil option. The view in Italy was that he was overawed at such a massive team and couldnt find his way.

Flamengo it was publicised that they also play slow build up.

Come on. You can't say that without naming the other 20 now

He's named Perreira (not a quick, direct transition player which is why United shifted him) and Christie who has been mostly used as a defensive midfielder.

So...20 more to go @SuperKev91

Really? You can’t name 20 who play in attacking midfield better than him? You could probably get 20 from just the top 8.

Come back to reality mate 😂. He’s a decent player and far better than we’ve had. That’s where it stops at the minute for me, hope if we do sign him he lives up to your billing!

I didnt solely say "better" i specifically was talking about 'in transition'.

Definitely cant see many better than him in attacking midfield better in transition. Many are 'ballers' who need players around them to keep play ticking over...

...Alcaraz is just direct.

No comparison on play, but I remember how direct Kanchelskis used to be. Alcaraz also goes straight for goal.

I like his bravery and the way he carries the ball as well. There are stacks of players in the premier league who do that as well though. He’s a decent player and I do hope we sign him.

Just hasn’t showed enough for me to be going in as a starter, for me this reset needs a total key shift in mentality.

I can guess that if he had been starting more games centrally your opinion may be different (as may mine). But so far so good imo. The fee has to be considered as a bargain as we'd not lose money on him.

In terms of a shift in mentality, it all depends on how Moyes wants to play. I would guess its quick transitions as that would benefit Alcaraz, Ndiaye and Beto.

I cant see him going slow.
