2024/25 David Moyes

Now that’s spin to fit your agenda if I’ve ever read it.

I reckon the millions in compensation had something to do with being what’s right for him, and the fact if he had waited until the summer he wouldn’t have got a penny. But yeah he put the club first.
He'd have probably got the same in terms of cash for wages continued until June + bonuses for keeping the club a PL club over the 2.5 year long contract he'd been handed.

Still think a cup win is beyond a club in our circumstances? Should Palace have rested players on their cup run to finish a couple of places higher in the league?

Palace’s cup run was:

Stockport
Doncaster
Millwall
Fulham
Aston Villa
Man City

It’s all well and good saying that we need to put all our focus onto winning a cup, but you’re at the mercy of the draw. Palace pull Liverpool away instead of Stockport at home out of the pot and they’re out in the 3rd round.

You need lots of luck to win a cup if you’re, well, basically not Liverpool. I think they’re the only team that are capable of beating everyone else home or away on any given day.

You may be right there, would have depended on the terms of the contract and clauses around being sacked and we don’t have the detail to confirm either way. However, I don’t believe he left out of some noble cause for the betterment of the club. He had lost the dressing room, had reached his limitations and he gave up.

Like him or hate him, he is what he is and your entitled to your opinion of him as a manager of Everton as much as the next fan.

He hadn't lost the dressing room. We'd only been beaten 3 times in about his last 12 games IIRC.

He had Dave, I’ve sat in every game and watched the team week in and week out..and in my opinion he had well and truly lost the dressing room. They weren’t responding to his tactics well at all and if you need any evidence of that all you need to do is look at how they responded to him leaving. As I’ve said your entitled to your opinion, the one thing I’ve learned about you on this forum is you’ll argue black was white just for fun, am gonna get ready to go to Goodison today to say goodbye to a place that’s defined my relationship with my dad, which I’m very emotional about actually. Let’s all say goodbye to that incredible place and leave that ginger bell end where he belongs, in the bin!

He literally admitted to TFG that he had lost them and 'couldn't take them any further' and we were 5th from bottom and just 1 point above the bottom 3. We were in a desperate situation. Really silly to be still defending him when we are now 13th and 20 points above the bottom 3 with the exact same players and have 2 games to go. Time to move on mate.

….not forgetting the RS were knocked out by Plymouth who have just been relegated from the Championship. These cups are there to be won, sometimes you’re name is on it.

I think we did the double over Palace this season and they won the cup.
