Other Club Stadium Developments

Miro and Picasso have specialist galleries in the city, they'd have been a little more apt. ;)

And I'm aware of the big cathedral they gave up on for thirty years, he died on the street hit by a tram, the locals thought he was a vagabond. Sad end.
Good shout on Joan Miro, his museum in Montjuic is a great visit btw

When you see these "extensions" to old stadia, you definitely appreciate the coherence of a new build. I think the only way to truly expand a stadium and maintain aesthetics is to build up a la the San Siro for the 1990 World Cup when they added a new tier.

When they start adding new stands, it all smacks of Auntie Doris's new conservatory...

The 2 new redeveloped club stadia in Seville are pretty spectacular. The San Siro, Nou Camp and Bernabeu are all redeveloped stadia.... amongst the most spectacular stadia in the world and in now adlibs.

One of the Drone Operators that has been covering BMD is also covering the Etihad expansion, City are increasing the size of their Second Tier behind the goal and also adding corporate spaces and a hotel. It'll be interesting to see if the Friedkins have something similar in mind with Nelson Dock with regards to a hotel etc close to the ground.

Why add more seats? They can't fill it as it is.

No offence, but it looks like a standard mega bowl.

From the land of Gaudi and Dali I would have expected more than just an upgrade from a bowl to a bigger bowl.

Was there no more adventurous designs considered? Was the budget limited?

£50m given today. Still a shortfall of around £90m but both the GAA and Irish Govt have made noises of increasing their contributions. It’s a step in the right direction but still not enough. With planning permission set to lapse within a year it is still touch and go.

Apologies, I thought I'd read £90M.

Nothing going into the pot from Stormont presumably with 'the peepil' blocking it?

Just been reading the GAA's priorities about stadium improvements down south. That cant be the priority surely given a GAA stadium like this is necessary in the north?

£62.5m committed by the Executive I believe.
