2024/25 James Garner

Will find out anyways in the last year of his deal so would expect talks this summer or will be sold. Imo think moyes rates him i do think we need to see more from him but is a good player

He's an ok player but obviously in forum terms if you're not saying the sun shines out of his arse you're criticising him. I dont see anything wrong in looking at individual stats and wanting improvement. Garner and harrison have 1 assist between them this season lol. To put that into context i looked at a club like brentfords midfield. Mikkel damsgaard. A £15m buy from sampdoria. Decent buy but by no means elite level. He's got 10 assists this season. Helps when you have wissa and mbeumo. But again thats about recruitment.
There's a reason Everton are the lowest scorers in the league bar the three relegated sides. Because we've to many players who dont over a season hurt the opposition. Games moved on. Graft is now mandatory with clubs like Bournemouth. They've got players like kluivert working his nuts off but then hurting the opposition with goals assists etc. Here at Everton we seem happy with just the grafters. You need more strings to your bow now.

Tom Davies but make him a kopite wool manc who's somehow worse.
Honestly he's a bit better than Tom Davies but very much of a muchness as with Tom.

What exactly does he offer?

There's not been one moment in 3 years I've thought, "You know what this game is crying out for? James Garner"

He's a clogger who offers relatively naff all

Same with most of the squad really that we do have to question them, was even like saturday thought did some good things shielding the back 4 then when we got the goal you want him to get in the game more. I would like see him go further up the pitch get involved more. For me gets a chance but agree with you alot of this squad need to add more than just workrate

Mangala 🤣 I’m not sure he will be fit till Christmas and he’s also not good enough,
Wasn’t good enough for 17th placed Forest so why should he be good enough for us, he was a loan player whom played about 12/13 games, there’s 100’s of midfielders out there

I’d sell garner no problem, he’s not good enough has a year left and probably has a 3mil book price, so we could make a decent profit on him
No one is ever good enough to sign or play for Everton it seems to me. Let the manager manage, the players play & we (the supporters) support.

Might just be me but it's a similar thing with Lindstrom at the minute and it's that we just seemed to turn out better performances when he's on the pitch. You can't say it's because of him but you just observe the games we've done well in the last few years and this season, Garner has normally been in there. Underrated player, one for the future at Everton I always thought.

If Mangala hadn't have got that knee injury, I doubt we'd have seen much of James Garner this season. I think that pretty much says all's we need to know, that he's a steady squad player and not much more. With the recruitment drive this summer, I'd expect we may find a player or two that will limit his pitch time next season.

Disagree with most on here. This lad can pick a pass, can be good in the tackle and always works hard.

Did anybody see him against Newcastle at right back this season? Best player on the pitch after facing Clare Balding and the ex Leicester player at the same time. Up against 2 on 1.You people have short memories IMO.

Better options around him and we'll see the benefits of him....
Always puts a shift in, covers multiple positions...
One of the only midfielders comfortable in possession...
People forget it's his job to feed our attacking options and just how poor they currently are

One thing the RS have over us is the way they back their players (apart from Trent 😂). Of all the players we have, I think Garner deserves a bit of grace. We improved significantly when he came back into the side after injury.
