Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Our fearless manager has pretty much downed tools in his quest for Delap.

Talk about playing your own club down:

“He would be one who we would certainly have an interest in,” Moyes, the Everton manager, said. “I think what he probably has to look at will probably be bigger than what we are.

“So, we would certainly be interested if he was interested in us. That’s for sure.”

Also pulled this snippet from the DCL comments by Moyes...

“I'll be the one who makes the final decision but Dom is the one who has to show us he can be robust and fit to play. Undoubtedly he has qualities other strikers don't have and he has to show us when he gets those opportunities he has to take them.

--I'll be the one who makes the final decision. Could this be on contracts and recruitment?

Oh dear.

So , according to your analysis Moyes has no part to play in recruitment. I suspect that you are very wide of the Mark amigo.
Did you read the article? And in no way did I say Moyes didnt have a part.

"Everton, for example, will not have a director of football as such after this season. Instead, heads of department across the sporting side will report to Kinnear as CEO or the new director of football operations." Kinnear's spot.

"the negotiation side will be handled by incoming head of trading Nick Hammond" Hammonds spot.

"Now, Everton’s new head of player identification — the role initially earmarked for Purdy — will instead function as something akin to a chief scout with added logistical responsibility." New Guy's spot.

No issue with a new DCL contract, it could very easily be a single year plus club option for additional 2-3 years.

I don't think the club will hand him a multi-year contract in the current situation, and I'd have no issue at all with a single year on current terms, especially if we sell Beto for a decent fee (£15m would be a dream).

He can't go into the season as first choice striker though, we need much better.

Reports are he wants between £120,000-£150,000 a week wages. Not sure we would be wanting to offer that with the rebuild we are looking at but then if DCL thinks he’s worth £100,000 a week it’s not a whole lot more for a better striker.

When you think of our bloated squad and Doucoure on a rumoured £120k, Harrison £90k and the likes of Coleman, Young and Keane on decent wages...

...£150k for your main England international (soon) is a decent deal.

Is he really that good? I mean somebody else who plays for us was being touted as the next Harry Kane at one point. 🤭

Really like Delap as a player. Think he could be great but that’s far too much for a player with one good season

Any other players coming in would want parity. We’re only just sorting the wage bill out. Can’t undo that now

Imagine we threw the kitchen at him and he turned out to be the next James Beattie.

That Beattie transfer haunts me.

Yeah 100%, you don't go handing him £120k a week when he's just had one decent season at such a young age. Sure he might turn into the new Harry Kane, but we're not at that point yet. £30m plus £120k a week wages gets two very promising up-and-coming players from abroad.
