Superb deal by us that, £40m upfront and £5m in addons.

Lad has a lot of potential but thats all it is right now. We need the money, he's not contributing much and is in the last year of his contract this summer. They have the money and time to take a chance on him and develop him. He gets his £££.

Very rare in life that you get a scenario where you can fix a mistake as quickly as we have been able to do here. I think it's pretty obvious now that Lampard was Gordon's biggest supporter and probably the reason why we didn't entertain Chelsea's interest in the summer. It was a massive mistake, and one Lampard has paid dearly for, as Gordon's form has nosedived since it became apparent that he wasn't going to be sold.

It is very good news for us that he's going. He's an extremely average player and evidently a very disruptive figure. Not to mention that we get pure profit on the books from a FFP standpoint. Thelwell now has a second chance to prove that he deserves to be here by finding some genuine quality with this lifeline that Newcastle have given us.

Agreed....but its only good deal if the 40m is now spent well....like with most of our money, we wasted the Richarlison money

40m for a headless chicken. Thelwell has pulled Newcastle's pants down well and truly if this comes off. Look at the maturity of someone like Bukayo Saka, and then compare to this grade A weapon. Hopefully we got add-ons like another 10m when he's played five minutes and dyed his hair a stupid colour too.

And to think some people think Ann Dashworth is some sort of footballing guru genius...hahahhaha
It's not beyond the realms of possibility that Gordon will do well at Newcastle. Howe has clearly proven himself as a very effective manager and if he can do for Gordon what he's done for someone like Almiron then they might have a player on their hands.

That being said, this will never not be a good deal for us. Gordon doesn't care about Everton at all, somewhere along the line that relationship has completely blown up and he would have never come back around. Two windows on the trot now where he's been absolutely desperate to leave and the only time he's played well for us during that time is when the summer window was still open and Chelsea still hoped to do a deal. He hasn't been remotely interested in doing well for Everton since.

In short, whether Gordon goes on to a be a world beater or not (which I think is very unlikely) we simply had to do this deal. There is a small chance Gordon will become a good player at Newcastle. There is absolutely no chance in a thousand years that he would have become a good player at Everton.
