    January Transfer Window 2023

Sadly Yerry will find it difficult to find a club even when he’s free in the summer, and if he does find one it’ll be at a fraction of his current wage. The idea that someone will give us any money for him in January or even cover his current wage if we give him away isn’t going to happen.

    2022/23 Andros Townsend

Hmm, some pretty dubious political comments there but got to say his co-commentary here has been excellent, well researched and tactically astute.

    Who should replace Frank Lampard?

Not saying it's what I want to happen, but if Martinez was first choice last time and the barrier was him wanting to take Belgium to the World Cup, then he'll be right at the top of the list this time too. I can see the argument for him: his deficiency was organising a defence but with the...

    Relegation 2022/23

At the moment there's a bit of a goal difference gulf between those four and the rest of the teams in the lower half of the table, and at this point I think GD is a good indicator of how badly wrong things are going at each club. I'd say that every team from 11th to us in 16th is definitely on...

That was horrible but a valuable point. They've been doing really well so a draw isn't the end of the world.

    2022/2023 Kit Release

Yeah, something’s gone on there. Just a one year extension too.

    Wasn’t expecting that.

Think there will be something done in January, we were trying moves up to the deadline so there was obviously a bit of budget and getting the likes of Allan off the books will also help. Ben Brereton Díaz will be down to his last 6 months so there might be a cheap deal there plus we still have a domestic loan...

    2022/23 Conor Coady

Yeah, you wonder if ego plays a part of it. Lampard is happy for other people to be big characters and big voices, but maybe Lage wants the only voice to be his own. Or maybe Coady just spoke the wrong language.

    2022/23 Salomón Rondón

Maybe so, but we can't when the window's shut. When the guy is getting minutes for the team there's no point shipping him off until January when we can get someone in to do the same job. It would be needlessly leaving us short of an option we need.

Gone under the radar with all the praise Lampard's been getting, but then sure he'd agree that's what a good DoF should do. Deserves a mountain of credit for a total squad overhaul in one window, not to mention all the other work being done on the academy etc.

    2022/23 Conor Coady

If Wolves are in a battle this season, and they certainly look like it at the moment, letting Coady walk out the door will go down as an incredible act of self-harm.

    2022/23 Frank Lampard

Yeah, one more quality attacker could still make a world of difference and turn this into a proper good side. The good thing is they did so much good work on the foundation of the team over the summer that now we can focus on 1 or 2 really good signings per window rather than having to...

    2022/23 Salomón Rondón

Not going to claim he's a world beater, but with Dominic Calvert-Lewin a total unknown at this point he's the only guy we have who can give you the option of that 10 minute spell at the end, and that's useful to have. I don't see the point in shipping him out and leaving ourselves without that option.

Not brilliant but the art of winning ugly will serve you well. Next step forward is to stop going into our shells when 1 goal up, we need to be killing games off. But compared to the same fixture last season, night and day.
