Moyes didn’t seem to have the best working relationship with the DOF/recruitment team at West Ham, did he? I don't want to be the club that relinquishes transfer decisions to the manager because it will end badly.

He'll be the next Moise Kean or Lookman. Young and with talent, but the manager doesn't have the time to nurture it because the squad is an unbalanced mess.

So reading between the lines it looks like Kinnear and Hammond signed a striker that Moyes didnt want.

Thought it was a mutual decision, but maybe I missrembered. Still think the decision was likely informed by moyes and kev not being on the same page. If TFG had to pick one or the other they were of course going to back Moyes who they just hired...
