To be fair,i think the likes of Gomes, kean and Dacoure were seen as good deals at the time we signed them, as we got them for way lower than what was expected, though you never know how they will do till they play here,a lot of players can play...

Of course but after 4 games. Under Silva we were nearly half way through. I mean even if you take the Silva's entirity here it was 68 points through 53, which is 49 points a season. Thats about 9-14th sort of form. I want us to score more points...

The issue is that the defence then gets left exposed.

Thats probably fair. Would you sack Ancelotti for finishing 9th?

How do you solve the issue of midfield though? Without exposing other flaws?

This is why I am a bit baffled he did not address the issues in this match in that second half. It was obvious we were being overrun in midfield we needed to change system.

But what would you used to justify Everton being number 1? I am not just saying it's Evertons level, it's just acknowledging where we were last season under our last previous manager. It'snot a number plucked out of the air.

To be fair, I argued at great length that 18th probably was too low so I can't really argue with what you've said. We did some things very well, but lacked any, kind of resilience when faced with adversity. It showed by us never coming from...

Well technically yes. But I suppose it's about how much we would want to progress this season.

Yep, I think Pickford did okay today myself but let's face it our defence is a nervous wreck and something needs to change. He's pretty much the one ever present. Since Moyes left, under every manager, we haven't defender with any semblance of...

Agree really on Nkonkou and Gordon. He obviously favours experience, but when players play badly he has to own that one. I was a big supporter of Olsen (see his thread) and would happily play him, but I think Pickford has been ok of late. I mean...

Fair enough. I appreciate the reply and I'm not trying to get at you, it's an interesting discussion. My points would be, even on an awful run, we could well be 7th at the end of this week, or very close to it. Secondly, the side was 18th when...

Fair enough, but managers do go through phases where they lose 4 games in 5 or 6. It's not great but it does happen, especially when you take over a side who were 18th.

I thought Pickford was actually better today, and strangely liekd the bit at the end, he made the save and went and cleaned out the 2nd ball. It sort of reminded me of the goalkeeper who first arrived here, who just went for things 100%. If he's...

Ok. Fair enough and there isn't really any comeback to that. All you can say, is he's never been manager who has a plan, and works towards it. He's a pragmatist that amends the system to suit opponents. There's a legitimate argument to say he's...
