ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Still think that they will be in the top 4 unfortunately.

They should have lost to both Chelsea and City but spawn 2 points. The entire lead up to their pen against Chelsea had a whole seasons worth of luck and they should have been down to 10 men today.
Of course they will. They have no chance of lasting the 38 games in the first 2 league positions though.

That organisation failed to replenish their ranks with new blood, and they'll pay the price. They are in trouble now. Brentford could have had 5 or 6 against them, last week, and City could have scored 7/8 today. Chelsea at Anfield down to 10 men strolled to a point. They are feeble in comparison with the youngish and juiced up squad of two years ago. This lot are a shadow of that outfit.

Klopp knows it, the Kopites who cry arse about lack of signings know it, and their media know it.

Chelsea have got Werner and flat track Lukaku, City havent got a Striker, we saw how bad United are.

They will challenge this season.
City had no striker last season either...won the league by a country mile. Chelsea can put two teams out and finish them both top 4. United are the only other of the 'challengers' who I'd see Liverpool finishing above.

They have the 3rd biggest wage bill on top football, so of course they get top 4. It would almost be impossible not to get top 4. I have to say, Salah is carrying them a fair bit now, I do wonder if he has a huge offer from another team to leave, but that's a slight side.

In terms of their start, they will be underwhelmed. They've had 2 tough games, both at home and 5 easy games. They start quickly under Klopp and tend to dip mid season. This is the best they will be, and they are not top, and not clear.

City tend to get stronger through a season (I seem to remember them being about 8th when Liverpool were 1st last season, and easily overtaking them). Chelsea will also get stronger as the new players settle in and confidence grows, as you sense will United as the new signings bed in (and maybe even get a proper manager to replace OGS). United getting Maguire back will also make a huge difference.

They have to go to Chelsea and City, they led twice in one game, and played against 10 with a man advantage in the other, and got 0 wins. That will be a 6 point handicap for them when the reverse fixtures are played as well.

We will see, still think City will probably win it, but dont see anybody running away with it this season.

Spot on mate.

If Liverpool were to make a fist of this season they need to jump out to a 7/9 point lead by Christmas. And they look feeble even now before the inevitable injuries and their effect on a small first team squad. City and Chelsea have them tethered and under control. The people who manage these teams know where the struggle will be this season: City trying to prevent Chelsea from grabbing their title to add to the CL title they deprived City of.

Aftre the new year you;ll see City and Chelsea pile up the points and head toward 90 odd points for the season. Liverpool haven't got that in their locker. Nowhere near it. They are a one man team and Salah will lose form and he'll also have to go to AFCON for a month.

Thanks for this Dave, ive just realised we will get rid of Iwobi for a month.

Buzzing here.

Chelsea and City are looking suspect themselves. Chelsea didn't really impress Vs a mediocre Southampton and City should've won today.
It's all a matter of form, who'll hit a 12 game winning streak?

City still heavily favoured, Chelsea... I cant tell really.

Only one team guaranteed to go on a massively long winning streak: City. Consistently they have done that - reeled off 12 or 15 consecutive wins.

7 games in and talking about who's gonna win the title already is hilarious, loads of potential permutations yet, even more hilarious is predicting results that are months away like they are forgone conclusion already.

93 points to play for, both teams could have been beaten today, Chelsea could have easily dropped points yesterday, United have OGS still but they have a clutch player like Ronaldo who can carry them but maybe that brutal Oct/Nov could be the making or breaking of them.

All 4 teams have strengths and weaknesses, football is a funny old game like they say and maybe a team no one is mentioning could go under the radar on a monster run like Leicester after xmas a few years ago when all the big teams dropped like flies in the 2nd half of the season, maybe Rafael could do a Ranieri.

Start talking about who the title contenders are in the new year after 18-19 games when you start to see the gaps between the title contenders, the mid table fodder and the relegation candidates, after 7 games is just plain naive and laughable.

The writing is on the wall for Liverpool: second best at their own ground to two teams more equipped to win the title.
