If that ever happened, knowing Everton, the other 6 would be Fabian Delphs....
Oh god not worth thinking about that.

I see it slightly different
Abs obviously things will change if certain players are moved on, like a CB. I’m not sure we will sign 3 attackers. Maybe one out and out wide player and another who can play wide and central.
I definitely think another quality central midfielder will be added, we’ve seen how poor we are in that position, when we lose Allan & Doucoure. And even last night they both payed, but weren’t really dominant.
i wonder why keane got man of the match considering this
I think hed be good behind a front 3 swapping with Richarlison on the left during games.
...sometimes I take a step back and look at the mid-80s team as a decent blueprint.
The game is a bit quicker now but 3 of that back four had Rolls Royce engines. Two CMs who rarely crossed the half-way line but hunted in a pair and gave possession to players who play.
Two wide midfielders who made a telling contribution with goals and assists. A central striker in the DCL mould and one who plays off as a partner.
Perhaps we try and complicate things at times. I have no idea what shape that team was last night, except we generally had 9 players behind the ball.
If we can get a player like that (or perhaps Pereira) in alongside a really direct winger, then we can jib Bernard and Iwobi off and have no worries about numbers and have immediately improved.
Get a CM in and out go Gomes and Delph, in an ideal world, and as I'm saying in the Sigurdsson thread, he then becomes that other option who we know can offer something in terms of productivity whether from open play or not.
The mad thing is ancelotti ended his first season at club, well half a season. Playing 442. And I generally thought he would build for that system in the summer. He talked about how he liked that system, from...sometimes I take a step back and look at the mid-80s team as a decent blueprint.

If we’ve only brought 2/3 players in and are scrambling around on deadline day for a couple of loans, then next season could end badly. We need 5/6 starters IMO. And i include a starter as a player who can influence off the bench abs is capable of staying in the team and putting Richarlison or DCL on the bench for 10 games.
It was me saying going for Gilmore isn’t a good idea IMO. I think he would mainly sit in our bench. I don’t think Carlo is going to use a 19yr old week in week out, that’s got 11 games under his belt. I think we will buy a midfielder, but he will have experience IMO.
I said before that I’d only keep Godfrey and DCL because it’s such an arse-ache buying guaranteed goals. The rest as you say are all massively replaceableIn all honesty, there isn't an Everton player I'd be desperate to retain. You know, desperate in the way we were to retain Rooney or Lukaku or to keep Cahill's career going.
We could sell the lot and start again and not lose any ground.
It's that poor.
Joe Willock could be a shout. 7 goals in 13 games, just 21 and proved to be a bundle of energy + fans favourite at Newcastle.
4-2-3-1 with James on the middle of a 3 or 4-4-2 with James as a 10 beside an out and out striker is to me the only ways to accommodate JanesThe mad thing is ancelotti ended his first season at club, well half a season. A defensive point of view. And Milan used it, in that great team of the late 80’s and 90’s
yet this seasons he’s tried every system under the sun. James doesn’t suit 442. Richarlison can only play as one of the 2 strikers in a 442. So I’m not sure what he will do this summer. It’s a worry of this constant changing of system and playing players in different positions, every other week.
You can’t have continuity, changing the team and system every game
A midfielder who gets into the box and scores goals? Yes please. He’s not great but does something we don’t do.
