New Everton Stadium Discussion

I can't see them using Croke Park as there's terracing at one end, would look ridiculous hosting a big game with one end empty. Don't know whether they could put temporary seating on the hill

I don't think the stadium is up to standard to play really top level when there are far better ones out there. It's a magnificent ground but it's not up to the modern levels.

Plans for hotel close to Everton's new stadium rejected

The hotel would have been built close to Sandhills station

Plans for a hotel next to Sandhills station have been rejected by Liverpool Council. Property company Knightsbridge had applied for permission to build the eight storey hotel on land next to the station, set to become a key link to Everton's Bramley Moore Dock stadium.

The Blues got permission for the stadium plans last month and are set to invest in a slew of improvements to Sandhills. However, a separate application from Knightsbridge for a 174 bed hotel next to the station has been refused. In its rejection notice, Liverpool Council said the hotel would result in the loss of industrial land, despite a planning statement from the developer saying the hotel would be a "positive contemporary development". The report read: "The scheme provides a strong presence and will act as a visual key on this prominent site."

The proposed high quality development will be a positive addition to the local community and represents a viable opportunity to develop a site for a suitable use for its prominent location. "The scheme is an attractive feature that will provide local buildings of interest." "The high quality design and landscaping will look to ensure this sits well within the local context and not just be a neutral addition but a positive contemporary development in the area."

The eight storey building would have been visible from Sandhill's platform and the hotel would have included a bar and restaurant. The developer can still appeal to the Planning Inspectorate, or can submit a new application.

This decision thing, do we definitely get a decision or if we don't get it called in by 17th March we just assume it hasn't been called in? In other words no news after that date is good news is it or does the government have to say it's not getting called in?

Think its minimum 21 days to give a decision so could be longer.

Thanks for posting that Dave, interesting piece. Are there plan for industry on the land or is LCC hoping?

Not 100% sure but I think they word it as an "initial" 21 days to look over the plans so think they can spend longer before making a decision.
