Depends on the question. Of course he is not the answer long term.

Is he any worse than Gomes, Davies, Sigurdssson in that role, or Delph? Absolutely not, so why has he been banished from the squad whilst the other losers get chance after chance?

He at least deserves to be called a useless knobhead by our fans as much as the other players mentioned.

Better than Davies but this ship sailed what feels like an Ice Age ago. Is he even in the registered squad?

He is no worse than Tom Davies.

One of the worst buys we have made in the last decade, Bolasie, Tosun, Niasse...etc were all better buisness then Besic.

Besic cost £4m + his wages

Bolasie: £26m + wages

Tosun: £27m + wages

Niasse: £13m + wages


Besic was clearly better business than the other three, in as much as we didn't lose anywhere near as much money on him. They've all failed spectacularly in terms of on-field contribution.

I always wonder about players like Besic. By the time he retires he will have made a good living out of the game but will have achieved nowhere near what his ability perhaps merited. In his case was it a bad move for him to come to Everton at the time, and his contract is too good for him to leave elsewhere, or has he just been stuck in that cycle.

Slightly different but similar story for someone like Matthew Pennington, and probably so many others at Everton. We seem to have a habit of stagnating a player's career.

Yes he has just been added to the squad in the last couple of weeks along with Nathan Broadhead to bring the numbers up to twenty five, could possibly be used due to injuries and suspensions later in the season.
