Sepp Kuss did 359 W for 44 mins on the Colombier today according to strava. Just under 6 WKg, which is pretty standard for such an elite group. WvA looked like he was setting an infernal pace but with Bernal on un jour sans and Quintana pretty banged up with his crash the other day it likely wasn't as severe as all that.

WVA has dropped about 4kg from last year and is, I reckon, the best climber in the world for 3 kilometres. Kuss and Bennett are excellent climbing domestiques, Tony Martin is an absolute engine and I've been massively impressed with Robert Gesink. I think Wout is probably in the process of sacrificing his classics campaign though, although if you get another go six months later then why not take one for the team?

It'll all come out in the wash I suppose, but I certainly agree that this has been a very dull race thus far from Jumbo.
I agree, a rather boring contest so far. It would be good to see riders attacking each other.
Jumbo seem to have taken over from sky /Ineos with control of the climbs.
Good that the competition for green is still wide open.

Even Sky would usually have their team leader gapping the rest before the finale of the climb. Certainly in the Froome years. I can't remember any Tour winner that has won courtesy of sprinting for bonus seconds at the top of the climbs.

Looking for a starter road/gravel bike around the £1k mark (Cycle2Work scheme).

Anyone recommend any that get more bang for your buck?
Stock has been decimated in the UK - there wasn't a single adult bicycle in our local Decathlon at the weekend, so it might be a case of what's available near you to have a look at (you should ride the bike before buying to check it fits).

Boardman (Halfords, Tredz) and Triban (Decathlon) are prob the best overall value - they're solid.
Something like this, say, at £849, is not possible to beat for value:

But it doesn't have the cachet of more established cycling brands (Giant, Trek, Specialized etc) so it depends what grabs you, you like the colour, fit feels right etc. My wife just ordered this CAADX on C2W and the components are two levels down from that Triban.
