2019/20 Carlo Ancelotti

I still feel Koeman did his very best to destroy the club. He was trusted with a huge war chest and bought a ton of ill fitting, one paced dross.
Alienated Barkley and told Lukaku he would be wasting his career here.
Got sacked and then went off to cheer on the RS.
Allardyce added more overpriced garbage trying to salvage the season, and we are still trying to find some sort of identity.

The club desperately needs a captain, a big personality who can pull the team out of the mire.
The fact we still look to Baines and Coleman, players from the Moyes era, for some form of leadership, is appalling.

Big job for Carlo, he needs backing in this imperative transfer window.
Totally agree, the koeman era was the start of the downfall, we’ve hardly ever spent big money well apart from rom and the directors of football are to blame just as much as manager. Brands should of gone when silva did. The captain part is frustrating that we’ve never had anyone who shows any kind of leadership since Jagielka (years and years of buying players who hide and show no desire to lead).

It’s a myth he alienated Barkley.
In fact Barkley spoke very highly of Koeman in an interview just after Koeman had been dismissed. He stated Koeman had improved his game and expressed sympathy for his sacking.
In fact Barkley had determined to run down his contract and leave us before Koeman arrived.

Bet he resigns before the start of the season
Why would he do that? Do you think that he didn't know exactly what he was signing up for when he took the job? As though Ancelotti, his team and his agent didn't even do basic research and establish what was expected of him, what the long term goals of the club was and what he'd be given to spend in pursuit of achieving those goals?

Some of you need to learn that football managers and players don't think like fans on forums. Nobody with half a brain walks away from a multi year, extravagantly well paid job just because it's not as easy as they'd like it to be.

The Echo are basically saying there is no money to spend. We’re going to waste an opportunity having Ancelotti in as manager.

There is no point having a £14m p/a manager for a club that isn’t going to spend money in the transfer market.

Without spending money we are not going to compete for European places and will once again find ourselves in the bottom half of the table.

We could’ve got ourselves a Sean Dyche to get the same sort of results for a lot less wage.

This is in no way having a go at Ancelotti. Hiring him now, knowing there is no money, just makes no sense.
