Best
Coleman - 60K, longjevity and at his peak one of the best RB in the league
Cahill - Talisman, passionate and got us completely
Stones - 47M profit on his sale

Worst - so many!
Beattie
Bilic
Klaassen
Kroldrup
Bolasie
Sandro.................this list could go on and on

Klaassen was bad but in hindsight, we got shut quickly and didn’t have to keep his wages on the books and recouped over half the original fee. In my mind, that’s a bad transfer but at least we rectified the situation. Much worse to have signed someone, let them go on a free effectively and paid their wages for years... like Schneiderlin.

In my lifetime of match going (1997)...

1. Cahill
2. Arteta
3. Martyn

Could easily have had

  • David Weir £250k, Over 250 appearances
  • Coleman £60k
  • Pienaar £2.5m
  • Baines - How many appearances? Been amazing for us
  • Tim Howard

Worst Signings

1. Sigurdsson - £45m for the least "creative" midfielder ever more.
2. Bolasie - £27m for a winger who wasn't even the best winger in that team
3. Iwobi - Time to tell, but £28m for a lad who isn't a winger.

Honourable mentions

  • Rooney/Klaassen. Not their fault we only wanted Number 10's.
  • Danny Williamson
  • Slaven Bilic - £4.5m, even more frustrating when he had a boss world cup.
Not including the likes of John O'Kane - who were nominal fees lol

Not including the likes of Andy Johnson or Beattie either, as despite them being jarg, they did at least slot goals once.

Loads to choose from for both best and worst. Thankfully I'm not old enough to remember the dark days of the 90s and early 00s so mine are mainly from about 2003 onwards.

Honourable mentions for Martyn, Carsley, Barry, Baines for best and Niasse, Williams, Kone for worst

Best:
Cahill
Arteta
Coleman

Worst:
Siggy
Klaassen
Kroldrup
Baines
Cahill
Pienaar

Klaassen
Koldrup
Delph ...not least for his gob being much bigger than his boots

Andy Johnson or Beattie either, as despite them being jarg, they did at least slot goals once.

They were the 2 massive disappointments for me.

Both times I'm thinking that we've finally signed a 20 a season goal machine only to see them end up with about 6 and running (plodding in the case of Beattie) the channels.

Then Jelavic looked like the man for all of 10 games before he became a joke but it was nice while it lasted.

Best
Cahill
Horne
Warzycha

Worst
Siggy
Williamson , Unsworth and 1 million . Poor sod , not his fault
Collins , most certainly his fault .

How has Bolasie not even made your honorable mentions?

We’ve spent 100mil on those worst signings. Unreal. I was a Sig fan until this year. Hard to argue he’s been value for the money anymore though.

1. Sigurdsson

2. Sigurdsson

3. Sigurdsson

Best:

1. Cahill

3. Pienaar

Can’t have a say on anything prior to around 1995

Some fella tried to call me a Kopite away at Watford last year, cause I called Sig out.

Literally proof that stats mean nothing. You see the goals and the assists. But don't see the lack of effort, pace or anything. Very, very ordinary player.
