Poll: Complete the season at neutral venues behind closed doors

Exactly. If these players are allowed not to adhere to social distancing, then us mere mortals should be allowed to swerve it as well.
Have they thought about the 2 metre distance rule ? Will make the defensive wall at free-kicks look silly . And will the players , who all seem to gob and clear their noses on the pitch , have to run off to do it in a tissue ?
Can't really see how Arsenal players travelling to a training pitch can be deemed essential travel either.
And players travelling to a match? On a coach with folk cheek by jowl who don’t live together?
I’d hope the police would stop any coach as it breached social distancing and inessential journeys rules.
So many flaws in the plans. Pull the plug. End it now.

So if the leagues don’t start by the 30th may UEFA will swerve it? How can it be done behind closed doors or not when they’res social distancing etc? Can the government override it? Surely it can’t happen be like subbuteo

What a load of rubbish, that and 5 substitutes per game. That is really fair to the lesser teams when city etc. replace half their team with more world class players when their legs are going.

May as well play games of Top Trumps to decide who wins these fixtures, probably work out fairer with at least some integrity with that.
They’re going to change it to 5 subs during this thing??? So much for integrity just changing the game pretty fundamentally halfway through the season...

I voted no, because I hate Liverpool FC and want to laugh at my kopite workmates.
tells it like it is

I can see the logic in this.

But more importantly, I can see loads of people seeing football taking place, and thinking that it is ok to visit mates again, socialise and indeed, gather outside the stadium.

The whole thing is a non starter. They are only discussing it to keep it in people's psyche.

Also, hospitals are need for life threatening illness currently. Not for injured footballers.

Prediction. No team will play their first two fixtures before big red.

The powers that be - even if they dont think they can finish the league, they'll just want a few more to steady the argument.

Everton should refuse to play. Football should not take place until new cases of this virus are down to 0. It simply does not matter in the grand scheme of things. And if that lot complain. TOUGH.

Football is not life and death.

But it will cause more death if it restarts before we are out of this nightmare.

Football should only return when fans can.

If we're wanting football without accompanying death (with or without fans, it'll cause death due to the numbers involved), it should be once there's a vaccine.

The Premier League, and football clubs who are keeping their heads down hoping the issue it taken out of their hands won't be remembered fondly for their handling of this crisis.

My view

Play the remainder of the game in Weeks 1-9 of next season (say September) and count them twice for the sole purpose of closure to this season (prize money etc)

So we would "complete" 19-20 whilst REALLY playing 20-21

A much better proposition than forcing teams to play behind closed doors

Exactly.

The BBC headlines yesterday looked so wrong.

1. 20,000 dead as grim milestone passed.
2. 100 NHS workers die from Covid-19
3. 'Project Restart' Premier League ready for return

W. T. F.

For all those friends and family I know who hate football, I envy them in some ways.

Why is soccer important. Why is that newsworthy amongst countless deaths.

We are told to isolate, that this virus is extremely dangerous and contagious. But we need to finish a league season of, what is essentially a game. A pastime. A distraction.

The business side of the sport has become more important than anything. The cart is leading the horse. And it is shameful.

The BBB sports presenter (don't know her name) the one that could eat an orange through a tennis racket, recokons it would be good for moral, if football restarted BCD.

Sally Nugent ? , or something . Kopite , if i remember correctly . The return of rugby would lift the spirits and moral of some people . As would tennis , cricket , snooker , darts etc . None of those sports are starting again soon .

The 'logic' of behind closed doors is beyond me. What about teams at the bottom that have more than half their matches left at home? Usually teams play better at home (looking squarely at you Roberto), no supporters there to will the team on, oh sure that's fine. Just as if Liverpool didn't play any of their matches at Anfield, Im sure thye would have been fine with that too.
