Potential cancellation of games - Coronavirus

Make NO MISTAKE: this match would not go ahead if it involved a London club. Absolutley no way shape or form would those in charge allow these away fans* from an infected area to turn up in their thousands and enter the local bars, shops and stadiums.

*I have no malice whatsoever towards these Atletico fans. Fans are fans. They'll follow their team. But they should never have been allowed to travel - they cant in Spain.
Again, this simply isn't true. There are 25 flights from Madrid to London scheduled for tomorrow, they will not be cancelled, and thousands of people who have been in Madrid will land in the capital, as they have from Italy and China during the outbreak. Until international travel is restricted, the things people are talking about in here are peeing in the wind.

Another overlooked situation is the Wolves one. Arsenal gets cancelled because their players had contact with the Olympiakos owner a few days ago, but Wolves are forced to fly to Greece to PLAY Olympiakos, who's players have of course "tested negative" for a virus that can have anything up to 14 days or perhaps longer incubation period in some cases. Wonder if they've tested the staff...

Italy is shut down with an apparent death rate of 6%. Let me know when you think it is time to get worried !
That will come down, simply because people die quicker than people recover, if you have symptoms for a week then die, you become a statistic after a week, if you recover it's maybe 3 weeks until there's no symptoms another week until you test negative, the recovery rate will start rising much faster than the death rate soon enough, and bring down the death rate %.

They wont allow thousands to congregate on a minute part of the capital and mingle in a 60k crowd. No chance.

It's nuts. There's no coordinated policy on this throughout the continent...principally because you have outliers like the UK Government still determined to use this country as a socio-economic petri dish.

The more minute the area the better surely. Having thousands of people heading all over the city on an overcrowded tube network would be much worse, and they’ll all be allowed to do that.

Again, I’m not saying the decision making is good, but the way people are focusing on things like football matches when there’s all sorts going on is just crazy.

They will be all over Liverpool and then concentrated on Anfield.

It is completely brainless to have this game going ahead. It should have been called off at least before the end of last weekend.

Again, it's not the game that's the issue, it's the travel. I spoke to family in Dublin at the weekend, they were saying it was full of Italians over for the rugby, despite it having been cancelled ages ago. People have paid for flights and hotels, they're not going to cancel the trip just because the games off. Unless you stop them from coming over you're not changing anything, you're just taking it out of your consciousness.
