I think with our current financial situation Europe next year would be a bit of a burden as we’d need to bring a lot in. I think the season after would be optimal but I wouldn’t complain too much if we scraped it this season.

Well I must be 'a bit weird' and I'll tell you why, the team we have at present isn't good enough, simply fact. I'm clearly aware of the claimed financial benefits no matter how small it is but failure, especially abject failure like we had last time, can wreck any potential improvement in the squad, being heavily beaten by no mark sides is extremely demoralising not just to the players but to us fans. Ancelotti is a miracle worker but expecting this squad to excel abroad stretches incredulity to its very limits. When we qualify, and we will, I want a team of strong characters playing persistent top notch football without a defence that is meltdown prone as happened against Newcastle and nearly repeated itself again today. Lets keep our feet on the ground and retain achievable expectations such as the Champions League in two seasons time and stuff the embarrassingly stupid Europa league.

I just want to clarify this part, he's not a miracle worker. He's just someone who is really really REALLY good at his job. One of the best in history.

Sooner we get Europa and European football the better ;-) We have a top coach who will ensure the squad is used to optimise entry by using younger players like Gibson, Gordon,Braithwaite,,Kean , Beni etc There is no reason not to get into group stages against smaller European teams ;-) Its crazy as fans we find faults and negatives in everything ;-(

I’d like us to qualify for Europe but wouldn’t want us to go and buy a load of players to bulk the squad out even more. The squad would probably be big enough as it is, we could still ship some out as long as we got a replacement. Next four or five games will be key to where we finish (as are all games) but if we can take maximum points in our home games then who knows? 5 points off 4th as well... 1 step at a time

This, I went to Bremen pre-season just because it meant going abroad again to watch our team in Europe. Didn't even care it was a friendly it was brilliant
