Everton Youth Teams Thread

Some matches our youngsters are playing in this week. There are more on the OS , and we know most of these from previous squads, but there are three worth pointing out.
Nico Hansen switched allegiance from USA to Denmark; Rhys Hughes in I think his first Wales U19s squad having played at u17; Tom Cannon at 16 doing well to play up at U19s for Ireland though I think he may have played at this level before.

Wales U19s 3-0 Poland U19s in the end.
. Astley played in the centre of a back three and looked very composed throughout. He was very comfortable picking up the goal kicks in his own box and playing out from the back, and his long ball in one such situation help start off the move for the third goal and was nearly repeated in injury time. Centre back is going to be his position, he was the one doing the pointing , making sure people were in position , always at the centre of defending. At right back he doesn’t show any real attacking intent , hitting the ball long is his preference , rather than regularly pushing over the half way line as an attacking back. He’s still young and getting good experience at right back is very useful, but we won’t really be able to fully gauge his potential until we’ve seen him as a CB for the 23s.
Rhys Hughes was an unused sub.

I saw a picture of the welsh team, maybe it was the last get together. And he seemed to be one of the tallest in the back row, so maybe he’s still growing

Yes, indeed, I was carefully looking at today’s team photo and although it’s difficult to tell only the goalkeeper and the slightly older Morgan Boyes , left sided CB from the RS , looked taller , maybe still growing but definitely not out of place size wise.

Was a teamsheet available at U23s v Plymouth match?
