On-loan Hull City defender Matthew Pennington is desperate for a return to parent club Everton in January due to a lack of game time according to Football Insider.

The 25-year-old has played just 17 minutes of Championship football for the Tigers since his arrival in the summer transfer window.
Pennington is becoming increasingly frustrated at his lack of action and is looking to return to Goodison Park in January to bring an end to his loan spell.

He will be like a new signing

Ooof, that’s a tough dilemma for club and player. I don’t think he’s played “officially “ for us , and you’re only allowed two clubs per season, so if he plays early January for us he can’t go out on loan to another club. He’s very unlikely to push for a squad place over Mina/ Holgate/Keane but may be seen as injury cover. I hope he doesn’t become a block in the U23s team, but with a contract until 2021 we will need to ensure he’s playing somewhere .
It’s a shame his loans haven’t worked out of late, it’s a long time ago since he was young player of the season when on loan at Coventry, but he always seemed capable of being a robust Championship/ League 1 defender.

Don't see why we don't keep him. We're one injury away from having to put Gibson or Feeney in. Pennington is certainly at least on a par with either of these and has the experience to go with it. Anyone who scores in a derby game deserves our respect.

Let's try again...

Championship
Hull City - Josh Bowler started and was substituted at half time in a 0-1 home loss to West Bromwich Albion

OS Match Report
"Josh Bowler brought a save out of Johnstone after turning neatly on the edge of the box"

Twitter stuff
10' - Teasing cross from Callum Elder. Josh Bowler holds off his marker well and plays a neat ball out to the Australian left back, whose cross goes into a nice area but no-one is able to provide a touch to turn it home.
39' - Neat from Bowler. The winger produces a lovely turn to beat his man on the edge of the box, but is denied by Johnstone after trying to curl one into the corner.
39' - How aren't the Tigers level?! Bowler's cross falls to Irvine, who is somehow denied by Johnson. Bowen then slots in the rebound, but the linesman has his flag up and the goal doesn't stand.

No particular fan comments about him.

FA Cup 1st Round
Lincoln City - Callum Connolly played full match in 1-1 away draw at Ipswich Town

OS Match Report

Twitter stuff
29’ Ipswich clear and counter, with good defending by Connolly seeing City a win a free-kick on the left.
35’ Important block from Connolly inside the six yard box denies Dobra of an opener.

Fan comment
"Thought Connolly did well."

Burton Albion - Nathan Broadhead played full match and was booked in 1-1 away draw at Salford City

OS Match Report
"However there was nothing Neal could do with twelve minutes remaining when FRASER slid the ball into the far corner after excellent hold-up play from Akins inside the box created a shooting opportunity for Broadhead, the Everton loanee firing towards goal but Fraser finally diverting it in."

Twitter stuff
52. CLOSE!! Excellent run and chip into the box from Broadhead - Edwards meets it but powers his header narrowly wide!
78. That's the breakthrough! Broadhead with great work into the box, plays it central and Fraser turns it home from close range!!!
86. YELLOW CARD. Broadhead booked for simulation.

German Bundesliga
Schalke 04 - Jonjoe Kenny played full match in 3-3 home draw with Fortuna Düsseldorf

OS Match Report

Fans generally not happy with the whole defence, including Kenny, after they gave away a home lead three times.

Belgian First Division
KC Kortrijk - Fraser Hornby started and scored with a header in a 1-3 home loss to Waasland-Beveren

Matthew Pennington and Kieran Dowell were unused substitutes
Joao Virginia and Korede Adedoyin were not in matchday squads

Cant help but think Dowell, Connolly and Pennington have ruined their careers with the constant loans. All have had stints where they were bossing it for their loan clubs only to come back and get loaned somewhere else. Then struggled for form at their next clubs.

...Dowell and Pennington signed 3 year deals not so long ago, from a financial perspective they got themselves in brilliant positions and have reaped the rewards.

Contrast with Lundstram. And Ledson might find himself in the prem next season

Dont get me wrong, all three are far wealthier than I will ever be. But, from a footballing perspective with such a short career, Im not sure they have achieved anything like what they will have wanted.
