He doesn't work hard enough off the ball in defence or attack. He has bags of ability but doesn't graft for the team and lacks good movement in the final third.

It could well all click for him at some point because it's things he can control which are letting him down. But he was extremely frustrating here for us.

Every time he played last season he grafted, Tim. The only time his attitude was questioned by Silva was in March when Silva mentioned he wasn't consistent in training.

He's been so close to magical moments for us that haven't quite come off and people just slate every performance as crap because of it. They're fickle.

It's not the end of the world, we're getting a decent amount and will get a better player in, I reckon. But I'm not gonna slate him.

I agree. I remember he came on with ten minutes to go and lost the ball trying to beat a man and then ran back and won the ball. Think it was Palace when he got the assist too.

Still do not think he has been given a fair crack of the whip here and will become a good player in Germany and end up playing for England but clearly his heart is not in it.

I really hope not. That's not how we play under Silva.

Well I think the aim will be a CF + one of them.

We don't play that way because we haven't got the personnel.

We need four wide players but all of them are really wide forwards in the context of a 4-3-3, so you need those players to offer a goal threat.

I see Silva's preferred system for now as 4-2-3-1 as we have Gyfli and Bernard in there, with Richarlison (a wide forward if there ever was one) the player who makes the cutting runs into the area.

In a 4-3-3 (which I think Delph's introduction does help us play as well), I don't think Bernard offers enough of a goal threat so to have a player who is comfortable playing wide but has the instincts of a striker is needed to compliment Richarlison on the other side.

Can't believe his only goal for us is the one on his debut, Absolutely mad to think about.
I stand by that he'll turn into a fantastic player for RBL and inflate his price to double what we sold him for. He's pretty raw still but so talented, Shame it didn't work out.

I don't really agree tbh. To fulfil his potential then he needs to be on the move far more and he needs to threaten in behind. I rarely saw it.

We made a total mess of his time here. He wasn't blameless but I very much doubt he was as problematic as people on the outside are assuming and I doubt he would have been at all if he was on the field more. 25m is a decent amount and enough to potentially salvage the situation but time will tell how much we regret how his time here was handled or if we regret it at all.

And that quote about him not working hard enough is basically a throw away quote used by managers in every sport to justify selection.

"Why arent you picking ABC?"
"Well XYZ is showing more in training so ABC needs to work harder and perform better to get his chance."
It's been done thousands of times. Amazing how much people have used that one interview to justify their judgement on the kid.
