Strange one, Gary Jones.
My old man used to say that he’d freely admit that if he wasn’t playing he was happy if we lost so he might get back in the team.
When he moved to a Brum,I remember him being sent off for sarcastically applauding the ref over a decision.

Ahead of his time?

....talented footballer was Gary Jones, remember him getting sent off for chinning a bloke when John Connolly had his leg broken. He wasn’t in the least bit that type of aggressive player, though.

We all had high hopes for him but like so many very talented players it just didn’t work out.

Didnt he also end up with a broken leg at one time? I liked Jones but as you say it just didnt happen for him,he ended up running a pub down Lark lane for a while
