A question to the most of the fans; Do you really think bringing a new manager would solve our problems?

A proper manager should be able to use the players at his disposal from the off.

They must be able to identify weaknesses within the current squad and be efficient in minimising them.

None of this 'i need my own players' before they've played a game.

The manager also needs to be proactive and adaptable. A tactician. Not somebody with a philosophy of playing whom doesn't learn from their mistakes.

For all the crap Moyes got at the end of his tenure, one thing that he had really built into the club was solid defending and the ability to defend under pressure. The Moyes era was built around rock solid center backs (Jags, Distin, Heitinga) who were defenders first and foremost, with some really strong defensive midfielders mixed in (OG Fellaini, Rodwell, Neville, etc.). One of the reasons 2013-14 went so well for us was that Martinez was able to take Moyes' defense and add some positivity to it.

Of course, as the Martinez era progressed, both the style of play and the preferred personnel changed. The focus on a solid core in defense gave way to a culture of having ball-playing center backs. For all the hype Stones got, let's not forget that his signature move seemed to be a well-timed slide tackle... to clean up his own errant pass.

Thinking the next manager needs to be a serious defensive specialist (because let's face it, we're not even in the Martinez era, where we were shipping goals but also scoring them from time to time). For about four seasons, we've been shipping far too many goals on two types of plays--counterattacks and set pieces.

No.

The confidence has gone since that Derby game. But if I'm Silva, i'm taking 2 days out next week, and making the team go out and enjoy themselves... WHATEVER they do, however stupid, let them have fun, let them connect.

Cause when confidence is so low, they need more than a "gritty" win against Bournemouth to lift spirits.

Yeah great idea , let the team of passionless , overpaid , underperforming knobs go out and enjoy them selves as a reward for that shower against a team that USB in very real danger of being relagated from the championship

We won't finish in European places, we won't go down.

Give him the rest of the season to figure out his current best eleven, his own and the squad's deficiencies and how to fix them. Silva has a squad consisting of 5 different managers signings. Square pegs and round holes and all that. Considering he hasn't been allowed to sign anyone this window, he's essentially only had one chance to improve the team on paper and we already want him gone..?

On the note of signings, letting Fat Sam sign anyone was criminal considering he was never staying on. Pissed away 40m+

Silva's stance on set pieces will give an indication on how long he stays. Accepting we need a change will earn our backing. If he goes full Martinez (a la playing out from the back at all costs), he won't see the summer.

An early worst post of the day contender

Sam saved us from looming relegation and his 2 signings were fine.

We have been buying 30-40m players who are turbo gash, that's the problem. And poor managerial choices

That’s the problem with these stubborn managers like Marco and bobby , they belive so much in their philosophy and style that they can’t actually see when it doesn’t work, or In Bobby’s case, he actually stumbled across a decent balance because of Moyes defence, then carried on changing it to something else dispite having found a decent formulae . Bobby didn’t actually practise corners, I mean have you ever heard that ? He didn’t do fintess and he believed you worked all the necessary muscles doing ball work , Marco belives zonal marking is great dispite the fact at his last 3 prem clubs he has had the worst record in the division for conceding from set plays . The 4-2-3-1 formation is crap and offers no protection defensively and he are disjointed and have no options offensively, doesn’t suit any of our players , yet he sticks with it. He throw away leads he throws all our attackers on the pitch to try get a goal. He doesn’t change the tactics , tempo etc because he can’t, him and bobby where rediculous appointments that have never proven anything and have both been relagated. I can never see him being successful and if that’s the case there is no point in allowing him more time and or money

Elaborate? Genuinely interested why you don't agree, not trying to start beef.
Sam is the least of our problems.. he signed two players who are still contributing..

Silva already knows his best 11... but sadly doesn't know how to motivate them or organise them

Silva doesn't even know how to prepare a team to face opposition as bad as Millwall.

Silva should of insisted that we do not give needless free kicks , corners or throw ins anywhere in our own half, knowing that it would be used to gain an easy advantage against us (a scoring opportunity)

Silva blamed the ref and not having var for this shambolic display... in itself is lamentable

But let's give him more time.. he's just misunderstood

There has been a full summer transfer window, 23 premiership games, several competition games, a January transfer window and we have gone backwards and dont look like being capable of winning another game. I think the question really should be "Do you think keeping this Manager would solve our problems" because based upon the aforementioned, the answer is very obviously a resounding no.

I have been saying give him lots of time since he started but i have had enough now and just dont see the point in it. There are no signs whateoever that he is capable of turning things around and even if he did how long would it last. Just dont see the point in delaying the inevitable anymore and i dont like saying that but i have had enough.

This ^^^^

Like when your with a bird or you been in a relationship and you know she isn’t the one for you but she hasn’t done anything bad . You just know it’s going to end one day and so why carry on living the lie and waste more time and money . Marco is not the man and I doubt he will manage in. The division again and by the end of his career I belive we will have been the biggest club he ever managed . If we lose to Huddersfield, lookong at our away form and looking at our home fixtures I really cannot see where our next Point is coming from , never mind our next 3

Yes. If we’d brought the right manager in during the summer. As for now, we stay with Silva until at least next Christmas. Not ideal but it’s the only option

No way he gets to Christmas if we plod on at this rate

My previous forecast was October/November.

I now think he will be gone when the season ends because there is no way I can see us getting any better over the closing months of the season.

Contributing is generous but I'll pay it. For whatever reason he doesn't rate Tosun.

The rest is hard to disagree with. We stooped to their level and even lower again. The ball was in the air for most of the game.

I don't recall saying he's misunderstood. I think if he shows he's willing to change certain aspects of his philosophy, then it's worth giving him the season to try and implement those changes. If he's too stubborn, then off he goes.
