I was not in favour of appointing Marco Silva as manager but I am quite happy with how we have fared since his appointment.
I doubt anybody seriously expected us to go from mid table to top four contenders over just one summer and if they did then it was unrealistic. I expect we will finish seventh or eight this year and in the circumstances that is acceptable. Building a team is a process and season 2018/2019 is where the building blocks for the future are laid down. We have to have patience and accept that it may take two or three seasons before the manager is finally happy with his squad/team. In the meantime we are looking for regular improvements, good football and astute signings.

This season is a real mixed bag of performances... we dropped silly points at the very start of the season and in the recent derby. We have had just a couple of poor performances like West Ham at home where we looked very ordinary, we have missed lots of goal scoring opportunities and missed opportunities to get valuable points against some average teams. We could easily have 28-30 points just now.
Next season we will hopefully see further additions to the team. We should also see more consistency in performances as players and manager get more familiar with each other and what is expected of them.

Haven't learnt from previous bad performances this season and I don't think we look any better as a team since the first match against wolves.

Can't see how his coaching skills are improving us.

I personally blame our front players for being absolutely abysmal in front of goal this season. This is top flight football. If you miss tonnes of guilt edged chances every week then chances are your opponent won't and you'll throw away points.

It’s not just our front players though is it?

Sigurdsson has been missing. Gomes missed a sitter. Even Mina could have scored.

Yes the forwards should be slotting but we need goals from all over.

If he sacks another manager this year, unless we somehow were in a relegation fight, then he needs to pack in football because he hasn't a clue.

It's nothing to do with lack of ambition. It has everything to do with allowing a manager more than one summer to get in better players who he wants, and allowing a manager to have more than one season at getting a team playing well.

I'm more than happy to give someone time when they play a style which done well, could lead to sustainable success over time. He doesn't get infinite time. But he certainly gets a couple of seasons. It's not like we were any good before he came. If the only problem at Everton was the managers then you'd think we'd have got it right by now.
Look at the attitude Ambramovic has. Moshiri hasn’t invested this money to be sitting behind the likes of Wolves in the table, getting knocked out of cup competitions by terrible teams and struggling to win both home and away games.

We have Brands as DoF now. He clearly has a more involved role than Walsh ever did. He will be picking the next manager.

Yep it's pretty much everyone. They've all been guilty. Our finishing as a whole has been woeful.

But especially Siguurdson, Walcott, Bernard have all been in plenty of great positions and fluffed their lines. And I blame them the most because it's their job to score. Thats my concern with Bernard. He's a lovely footballer but he doesn't look like he will ever be any sort of goal threat. I'm not sure we can play a front 3 where the wide men carry zero threat. But it's all a process and early days.

We had Allardyce last year. If you thought we'd be flying by Christmas this year, then you're mental.

If we still are way down the table this time next year then yes I'll be concerned, but we're doing as I expected. It's not great but it is what it is.

If you think sacking managers every few months is the answer then I think you're severely misguided.

I'm not sure what abramovich has to do with anything. He had money when no one else had huge money. Everyone has massive money now. It's not the same.

Yes if he insists on a front 3 they all need to be capable of getting goals.

We are so toothless at the moment

For a forum that is a great advocate for mental health, this thread is a very poor reflection on that.

It seems anyone who tries to make points against the manager is: mental, hearing voices or has men in white coats coming for them.

Three posters in the last few pages have made reference to these things.

It’s pointless trying to debate a topic if these are the labels that are getting slapped down on people.

@Groucho @AndyC

I’m sure all three of them are working hard on failing to score in training Frank.
Well it seems to be the same game after game after game... Its not just about being 'unlucky'.. Its about not ironing out our deficiencies...

It's starting to get comical

Not sure how you can say Allardyce has anything to do with whats going on this year, dont forget he only came in to sort Koemans mess
Yeah this mess has got ef all to do with allardyce. He signed one duffer in tosun but he also got in Walcott who silva seemingly rates.

Tge squad was complied by Koeman and Walsh and that's where the blame lies
