Usmanov

This is my suspicions as to what was meant when Usmanov would come on board. Over the next 3-4 years while the ground is being built I can't see much incentive to give much more. I think our new ground will be plastered with Russia sponsors and boxes filled with Russian companies.

I agree and whilst I would like the team strengthened to the point we become competitive with the top 6 in that time, a stadium announcement in the short-term will probably result in continued conservatism with transfer spending.

I would accept that gladly if it means we can have the stadium we all want. I imagine the view is that Koeman can get us close to the top 4 if not in it when he has a squad of his own making, even if our spending isn't hugely significant.

If we get BMD then it is take-off for Everton in terms of exposure, commercial attractiveness, and building recognition more broadly and outside the U.K. It is also the point where bigger players step up who can then drive the club forward to give us a team to match the stadium.

A completed and iconic dockside stadium with Moshiri as front man and Usmanov as indirect benefactor will probably represent the greatest achievement of their partnership together in football. We should exploit the Russian element if possible. Plenty of people there with very deep pockets who would be keen for a slice of the pie and the public exposure and prestige it would bring.

are we (Everton FC) better off with..

1. Usmanov and moshiri have FULL ownership of Everton

2. moshiri being the front man whilst usmanov bank rolls us from within Arsenal (legally speaking thro sponsorship and such)

3. there is NO difference between 1 and 2.

@davek @bluestevon @catcherintherye

Ultimately it doesn't matter one little bit mate is the easy answer, if anything it will become apparent anyway who the owner really is, much like in other football takeovers in Russia which had a similar set up to your second option.

Doesn't matter if it's a limited Moshiri or we had Bill Gates who wanted to blow all his cash. It's the same, we are still bound by FFP, top top players will only come when the project picks up pace and we are really knocking on the door. To do that the infrastructure needs overhauling to earn the funds to pay massive wages and that takes time, nothing short term here I'm afraid.
It matters in the sense that infrastructure development does not come under that type of straitjacket you describe. An Usmanov backed takeover would be expected to roll right through Peel and the City council and get the job done at the docks quick smart.

I am a bit more optimistic than you on the transfers. I saw a big
improvement from window 1 to 2 and I would expect that to continue. While I don't think we will see crazy money being spent I do think within reasons any player the manager/ Walsh identifies will be targeted. Budgets will be decent and readily available so planning can take place to conduct the window properly. A long way from where we have been.

We spend money on the field prudently. Our challenge is going to be, now we have more continuing to spend it as prudently. Trying to do as Spurs have done with in the field spending. As shown by the FT article recently we are among the best spenders on players.

Off the field is where we lag behind. That is where the real improvement needs to come. In the end we will only compete with the best by growing these revenues alongside investment to allow the football side to have more ammunition.

Any idea on how they will do that mate ? Surely it be cheaper to do it now mate

Not sure to be honest. Just got told today of them plans. From what got said two weeks ago til today has changed. The is plans to hold gigs and other sporting events at the new ground. I've got a meeting in two weeks with the mayors peopple so will hopefully find out more info. One of the men in his office has got lose lips and is very excited at the project of Everton. The mayor is working very closely with the club for the ground. From September gonna be working with Everton hopefully. So, hopefully find out a lot more in the next few months.

Very true, but even if you are very rich it still takes time. You build it once properly, else build in haste and repent at leisure.

Of course if we are still having this conversation next year and nothing has been announced then you would have been proven right.

@-wizard- I think are slightly better off in scenario 1- namely
that Usmanov publically come on board. However both eventualities are far better than him not being involved and worlds apart from being under Kenwright.

I think we have to view each option not just as good but as how easy it is to navigate different rules. In scenario 1 we have to get around FFP in scenario 2 we have FFP and rules around owning two clubs at once.

If we have Usmanov supporting us, we essentially are the second best backed club in the country and in the top 5 or 6 in Europe, but limitations on how much we can put into the club. Most of what we do will be around trying to invest the maximum legally we can whilst secondly trying to put money into strategic areas that can grow our revenue longer term (and thus allow more money to spend).

All if this works on the proviso of Usmanov lurking. If it's just Moshiri a similar dynamic occurs but growing the business becomes more essentially that necessary. Either way the core of the club gets stabilised with the help of very competent business people which is a positive.

i agree with all of your points.

is there a limit to what USM can actually give us for sponsorship??

could a company like gazprom (once owned by Usmanov) come in and be a completely different sponsor also?

even being linked with and having him as a sponsor will bring in more companies who will see us as a worthy venture to invest in. something kenwright could NEVER deliver.
