Roberto Martinez discussion

We've underperformed a bit in the League so far, not massively, but the number of draws shows we're not as good as getting results as you'd hope.

The thing with Martinez is that he's moulded our squad into what it is now, a bloody exciting team to watch with bags of talent in it who aren't afraid to go out onto the pitch and show the ability they have. If he wasn't in charge, that might never have happened. The flip side is that we're sloppy in defence, which is why people were questioning goals conceded against S'land and Villa. It's easy enough to sort the latter out, a lot of mistakes we're making could be ironed out on the training pitch, but, to a certain extent, our gung ho way of attacking with Coleman and Baines getting so far forward will always leave us vulnerable.
Agreed. Some of that sloppiness is also likely to come from the lack of consistency we've had in our back four, with injuries really restricting the growth of partnerships and how they train and work as a unit.
Set pieces are a major concern for me though.

There's a few ways to look at it though.

We were great season 1. Martinez took some plaudits.
Poor season 2. Martinez took some hefty criticism.
Bit better season 3 (although not perfect clearly). Should he be congratulated for fixing the broken season 2? Or not?
Absolutely, we are completely different to last season with not that much change personnel wise.

He's turned it around this season and we are playing some beautiful stuff, the frustration comes from not killing a game off, which can't be fully Robertos fault

No. Short term was last season, when you wanted Moyes back.

I'm not saying Martinez should go now, but more disputing anyone who thinks his position is untouchable, so untouchable they belittle/patronise those who dare question him.
I never wanted Moyes back, but keep it on man.

His position is not untouchable but in the circumstance Everton find themselves as a club he is going about it in the right way and showing signs of progress.

He has set the club up from the youth teams to his first team with strategy that is designed to be sustainable and more competitive against those with greater resources in the medium to long term.

Progress not coming as fans like shouldn't lead to the geordieisation of our fanbase.

Moyes got 11 years. Martinez has had three. In the past couple of games I've seen football as good as I've seen at Everton for a long time. It's a positive indicator of this strategy maybe is capable of delivering some form of tangible success in a sustainable manner.

Obviously Sky Sports wants you to be dead angry and show that anger when things don't our way.

To be doing it now is trite.

Disappointing day and week Evertonians. Turn and face.

Moyes is not an opinion now he is done with leading top teams.

Removing the manager is not an agenda either cos he is the best we can have unless this club is sold which won't happen.

So I don't think this club is going to achieve bigger thing like getting top 4. I believe another midtable finish is on cards which is wrong to this football club. We get three draws against crap teams with no back to back win this season. And before we played these three games the majority were saying we would get results to move up the table. Where are we now 9th or 10th after 16 games?

Norwich fans booing their players for losing 1-0 at half time to Everton.

Days after Swansea sack their manager for being 15th.

Modern day football.

What would he have to do for you to think "Yeah, not good enough"

For me, 8th or below (and no cup win) and I'd say twist.

Then that'll be two consecutive seasons we've underperformed.

Hmmm...
