His Dad wanted him to play for Scotland. He knew the fuss it would cause if he chose Ireland.

He plays for Ireland because he wasn't allowed to play for Scottish youth teams because of a stupid rule that the SFA had over schoolboy football. Aiden was invited to play for Ireland at youth level as they had no such rule, and was never going to go back after that. That's it in black and white. Any one else saying otherwise is talking crap.

Don't even get me started on why McCarthy doesn't play for us.

Cracking goals from Aiden tonight. Really hoping he's going to showcase his talents in an Everton shirt this year. As i've said many times, on his day he can be world class. Martinez has just somehow got to get some consistency from him.

Played a lot better tonight than I've seen him play in a green shirt for a long time. He still gave the ball away needlessly at times and his crossing was poor but that's par for the course with McGeady.
