Why waste him there, ball playing centre half with McCarthy and Barkley controlling midfield for years ahead of him. Quite a good spine of a side.

He was a right back though. It's what he came to us as - a right back who can play very well at centre back.

Clearly better at CB, as it turns out.

......he was always a CB playing at RB. It was recognised when he signed that he was a CB, although he had been learning his trade at RB. Regardless, what a prospect. Amazed nobody is talking him up for England.

Pure class today - held our shaky defence when Fulham pressed together - the way he fetches the ball out of defence is international quality!

I agree with you on that, but wouldn't say he'd be "wasted" in midfield.

It terrifies me how good he's going to be, and already is. He's playing as well as any of our centre backs have this season and we've got seasoned internationals to compare him against.

If he would have got in the team a couple of months earlier he would be going to Brazil this summer.
